Agent 4 is a major character in Nintendo's Splatoon franchise, serving as the main protagonist of the 2017 third-person shooter video game, Splatoon 2.

Like the rest of the Inklings, they are voiced by Yuki Tsuji.
Personality
| “ | Agent 4 is the type of squid who goes with the flow, even when the waters are raging. This silent squid values freedom and flexibility more than anything, and while it's rumored that Agent 4 helped Marie save the world or whatever, I'm pretty sure that was mostly Marie's idea. | „ |

Agent 4 is silent, so they don't show much personality in-game. However, according to official sources, they are the type of person who "goes with the flow, even when the waters are raging".
Agent 4 is also likely a selfless individual, as they serve as an Agent of the Squidbeak Splatoon out of the kindness of their heart, as they do not receive financial compensation and are not paid in any way.
Biography
Splatoon 2
Upon wandering around Inkopolis Square, they stumble upon Marie, whom recruits them to the New Squidbeak Splatoon as Agent 4 and tasks them with fighting the Octarians and retrieving the Great Zapfish. Later, Marie reveals that she's also looking for her cousin Callie, who has also gone missing. They later hear a voice, which turns out to be a mind-controlled Callie whom is telling Agent 4 and Marie to leave.
At the end of the story mode, Agent 4, along with Marie, confront DJ Octavio, along with the brainwashed Callie. Together, with Marie using her low-tide ink, they free Callie, and, with the modified Rainmaker that Sheldon gave them, finally defeat Ocatvio once and for all.
Splatoon 3: Side Order
While Marina initially decided to make a digital copy of Agent 4 to guard the Memverse, Order, deciding that they were too free spirited and unremarkable to guard its intended world of order, did not agree to this plan. However it did note Agent 4's strength and thus copied their being to make the Parallel Canon, a group of Inkling-like Jelletons who fight in unison akin to regular players.
A fragment of Agent 4's Soul was also claimed by Order as a palette during its attempted worldwide grayscaling, but this was returned to them when Agent 8 ascended the Spire and sent it back out via the Control Room.

Trivia
- Marie's dialogue in certain localizations suggests that Agent 4 is "two years older" than Agent 3, suggesting they are 16 to 18 years old. This contradicts the developers' statement that the playable Inklings in Splatoon 2 are around 14 years old.
- Agent 4's hygiene is much better than Agent 3's according to Marie. However, this dialogue is only in the English version of the game and not the original Japanese version, so this is debatable whether or not it's actually true.
- Most promotional artwork and screenshots depict Agent 4 to be a female Inkling with the Haircut hairstyle, which is also seen in-game at the end of the Octo Canyon credits, while few pieces of concept art and segments of the credits depict a boy version with the Slick hairstyle. This is less variable than the first game, which had multiple official artwork pieces depicting both Inkling girls and boys as Agent 3.
- This is also the default design used for Parallel Canon in Side Order if the player does not have Splatoon 2 save data on their Nintendo Switch.
- Marie has an entire Agent 4 Factopedia, which can track the all players performance in multiplayer battles in Splatoon 2.
- Although not directly confirmed for certain, it is heavily impiled that Agent 4 and Agent 8 are roommates, as one artwork for the "Tower Records" features an Inkling girl resembling the most often used design for Agent 4, with an Octoling girl similairly resembling the design most often used for Agent 8.
- As the main member of the Parallel Canon looks like a masked, gray Inkling and also possesses the latest hairstyle that the player was wearing in Splatoon 2 prior to opening Side Order, it's theorised that Agent 4 was completely consumed by Order and converted into its mindless servant, though it's still more likely that this member of the Parallel Canon is just a more complete replica of Agent 4.
