Ash Graven is a major character in the adult animated series Final Space, serving as a major character in Season 2 and a major antagonist of Season 3.
She is voiced by Ashly Burch, who also voiced Chloe Price and Molly McGee.
Background
Ash Graven originated from the planet Serpentis, to which she was going to be sacrificed to a snake-like god named Warthrent along with her younger sister. She only found this out once her biological father told her. Watching her little sister getting eaten by Warthrent, with no way to stop it, triggered something inside of her, which was her power. After blowing an attack at her parents, killing them, she made a run for it, to which Fox spots her, stopping the repair of Clarence's ship. Clarence gets mad, until he spots Ash running toward them, and probably witnessed the attack. Somewhere along the line, she gets adopted by Clarence and starts her new life with her new family. Sadly, she was never truly able to get over the trauma, and it probably is the cause of her personality.
Later on in the series, after nobody gave praise to Clarence, he called Ash and Fox ungrateful and disowned them, later leaving Fox to die.
Appearance
Ash has light blue skin, pink eyes, and long pink hair that covers her nonexistent right eye (which Invictus gave her right eye later). She wears a black, body glove-like garment with black, fingerless gloves, a gray cowl with purple vertical lines and matching skirt with a simple purple snake head on the front, gray gauntlets with purple screens on her forearms, pink leggings, gray boots with purple knee pads, a pink snake armband on her upper right arm, an amulet with a pentagon shaped gem around her neck, and a magenta choker. After Invictus gave her an actual right eye, Ash now has the body of an adult, with her hair now a swirl shape and both sides of her head shaved.
Personality
Ash, an obsessive and standoffish girl, does act quite awkward and creepy, however, in a manner in which she wants to sound normal. Interestingly, the manner in which she acts hints that she tries to act normal, but fails miserably.
After allying with Invinctus, her original shy and kind traits were replaced with a bombastic and cruel personality. She became unwilling to listen to reason, and used her powers and insults to hurt her former friends, seeming to experience glee from their pain. It isn't clear whether her trauma and disappointment drove her into becoming a sadist, or if it was her powers overwhelming her mind, or the corruptive influence of Invictus, or some combination of these variables.
Powers and Abilities
- Umbra-Ergokinesis: From a young age, Ash possessed the unique ability to generate and control dark energies, which she used to exterminate many of her people. Her powers are strong enough to contend with the strongest characters in the series, with Invictus and the Lord Commander being amazed by the sheer level of power she can use. Upon using her powers, usually through intense emotions, Ash surrounded by a purple aura and the white of her eye turns black. While the source of her power remained unknown, it was eventually revealed that Ash's powers were bestowed upon her by Invictus, although it is still unknown in what way Invictus did this. It can be assumed that Invictus may not have actually given Ash her powers, but simply originated from a source of darkness like Invictus. Later, Ash is given full access and control over her dark powers, alongside permanently altering her physical appearance, such as giving Ash another eye.
- Energy Absorption: Briefly, Ash displayed the ability to absorb the energy produced by the Crimson Light's drop drive, which she used to empower herself, allowing her to bust through solid time shards.
- Power Transferal: After stealing Mooncake's powers, Ash transferred them to Invictus, enabling him to break free of his prison.
- Umbra-Pyrokinesis: When using her powers, Ash's dark energy will manifest as fire-like vapor, which she can use to project as devastatingly powerful projectiles, including blasts, slashes, and telekinetic attacks.
- Telekinesis: By enveloping something with her aura, Ash can effortlessly control things in her environment, even moving something as heavy and enormous as the Galaxy Two, which she was able to hold in place for longer than ever before.
- Levitation: When using her powers, Ash will be lifted off the ground, usually as a side effect. Upon having her powers unleashed by Invictus, she can do it at will, usually producing an aura of purple vapor around herself when doing so.
- Telekinesis: By enveloping something with her aura, Ash can effortlessly control things in her environment, even moving something as heavy and enormous as the Galaxy Two, which she was able to hold in place for longer than ever before.

- There are hints that Ash has feelings for Little Cato:
- In "The Toro Regata", she admits it by accident.
- In "The Happy Place", she made him jump with her and she says she likes his fur.
- She is hinted to have a doll made of Little Cato's hair.
- That said, Olan has confirmed that he wrote Ash and Little Cato's relationship as akin to siblings rather than any romantic interests on either side.
- Ash has a tattoo of one of the dimensional keys on her left arm.
- Ash has a birth defect where she only has her left eye. This ended up changing when Invictus altered her body, giving her another eye along with becoming taller and more powerful.
- Her name means "sculpted ash".
