Buckbeak, later renamed Witherwings, is a supporting character from the Harry Potter series. He is a hippogriff belonging to Rubeus Hagrid.
His vocal effects were provided by Frank Welker.
Personality
Buckbeak is a proud creature and at first, he seemed to be fairly aggressive, attacking Draco Malfoy when the latter insulted him. Despite seeming aggressive, Buckbeak has been shown to be very loyal and protective of those who treat him with kindness and respect.
Biography
In 1993, Buckbeak was introduced by Hagrid to third-year Hogwarts students during a class.

- In the books, Harry did not enjoy riding on Buckbeak, while in the films, he did.
- In the Harry Potter series, Buckbeak had three owners, Sirius Black, Harry Potter and Rubeus Hagrid.
- He was initially owned by Hagrid. After Sirius' death and Lucius Malfoy's incriminating status as a Death Eater, Harry became Buckbeak's owner. As soon as he was made aware of this, Harry returned Buckbeak to Hagrid, much to the latter's happiness.
