Florrie is a major character in DreamWorks' 17th full-length animated feature film, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, the second installment of the Madagascar franchise.
She is a lioness from Kenya who serves as the Alpha Lioness of a Kenyan savanna. He is also the wife of Zuba and the long-lost mother of Alakay/Alex. Compared to her husband, Florrie's more instantly open-minded about Alex's personal decisions, whether it'd be as a new Alpha Lion or even as a dancer.
She was voiced by Sherri Shepherd.
Background
Florrie is Zuba's wife. Therefore, she serves as the alpha lioness of the Pride that lives on the Wildlife reserve. At some point, Florrie and Zuba had a son together, and they named him Alakay. But after their baby son was taken from the poachers, Florrie and Zuba both believed that the poachers killed their son, much to their dismay. However, unbeknownst to both of them, Alakay survived, ended up in New York City, and took on the name, "Alex."
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
Florrie is the first to recognize Alex as their son when he and his friends crash landed in Africa. After Zuba steps down as Alpha lion, the family goes into hiding. Later in the movie, Florrie convinced him that they should be glad that they have their son back in their lives.
At the end of the film, Florrie embraces her son and husband as they return home safely with the missing water. She later appears at Skipper's wedding to his hula girl bobble head, and says goodbye to the the Penguins, Phil, and Mason.
Personality
Florrie is loving and more understanding than Zuba is. She also accepts Alex for what he is. She acts like the voice of reason for her husband.

- Florrie is never addressed by name in the film and is credited as "Mom". Her name is revealed in the film's novelization.
- Florrie and Alex both have the same eyes.
- Florrie was the first to recognize Alex as her son, Alakay, before she checked for his birthmark for confirmation.
- Even though Alex is all grown up, Florrie still sees and addresses him as her baby.
- Despite the fact that her voice actress, Sherrie Shepherd, is still alive, Florrie doesn't appear in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted.
