Haida is the deuteragonist of the Netflix Original series Aggretsuko, he is a major character in Season 1 and 2, the deuteragonist of Season 3, the secondary antagonist of season 4 and the protagonist of season 5.
Haida works alongside Retsuko in the accounting office and has a long-standing crush on her.
He is voiced by Shingo Kato in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Ben Diskin in the English version, who also voiced Nigel Uno and Hoagie Gilligan from Codename: Kids Next Door, Eugene Horowitz from Hey Arnold!, Humphrey from the Alpha and Omega sequels, Joseph Joestar from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency, Spook from the Top Cat movies, Sai from Naruto: Shippuden, Agumon, Shoutmon, and Cutemon from the Digimon franchise, Stitch from Stitch!, Ban from Seven Deadly Sins, and Nino Lahiffe, Max Kanté, Nooroo, and Sass from Miraculous Ladybug: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Appearance
Haida's appearance is based on a spotted hyena, and his name is a play off the Japanese pronunciation of 'Hyena'. Haida has grayish-brown fur with a dark gray muzzle, black ears, and freckle-like spots of the same color on his cheeks. His eyes are hazel, and he has gray hands, tail, and fur tufts in his ears, and a pronounced underbite.
At work, Haida wears a white dress shirt, red tie, black dress pants, and brown dress shoes. His casual wear consists of a red and black striped t-shirt, black leather jacket, jeans, and boots. In winter he wears an olive green coat, with white fur on top.
Personality
It is hard to say what Haida's real personality is like as most of his time is either spent fawning over Retsuko or drunk, but these situations show that he is somewhat neurotic, often visibly anxious and can be prone to bursts of anger. Haida tries hard to impress Retsuko with his initiative to fix her things and compliments her as best he can, but he cannot get himself to admit his feelings for her, and doesn't take her rejection very well at first. He has a lot of trust for Fenneko to keep Retsuko safe at the mixer, and though he gets extremely jealous of Resasuke, he is still content that Retsuko is happy with him. This shows that he is kind and considerate, even when not getting what he wants.
At times, Haida can get very passive and indecisive, such as when he juggles between his feelings for Retsuko and Inui, unable to choose between the two. He can be pretty much of a pushover, only following people's words rather listening to his own choices.
