Lug is one of the characters in Robots (2005).
He is voiced by Harland Williams. who also voiced Carl in Meet the Robinsons.
His Story
He's a large robot whose main problem with scavenging for parts is that he can never find them in his size. He helps find voice/sound chips for Diesel. Later in the movie, he is converted into a professional-wrestler robot in order to fight evil robots by saving Bigweld from Ratchet and his evil mother Gasket.
Lug is one of the many robots whom Rodney Copperbottom meets on his journey to Robot City. He takes care of Aunt Fanny, Fender, Piper, Crank, and Diesel.
Unlike other robots who had their names revealed, Lug's name is never mentioned.
Personality
From the few lines he has in the movie, it can be inferred that he is the "strong and silent" type. He is friendly to Rodney when he first meets the gang, and he often helps Diesel by finding new voice boxes for him. Lug lives with Aunt Fanny, Fender, Piper, Crank, and Diesel at the boarding house.
Physical Appearance
Lug is a green, boxy, bulky robot. He can make a beat by pounding on his own chest. As suggested by his size, he is very strong. In the movie, Lug complains that he can never find spare parts in his size. During the final fight, he is "upgraded" to look like a professional wrestler.
Trivia
- His full name is Lug Nut. Whether Nut is part of his first name or is his surname is unknown. His full name was confirmed in an interview with Harland Williams.
- He was originally going to be a Hulk like character.
- He is the only member of the Rusties never mentioned by name in the movie. However, his name is mentioned in the deleted scenes.
- John Goodman, Mike Myers, John Cena, the late Michael Clarke Duncan, Eric Stonestreet, Kevin James, John Ratzenberger and Arnold Schwarzenegger were all considered for the role of Lug before Harland Williams was casted.
