Megumin is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Darkness) of the Konosuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! franchise.
She is a powerful arch-wizard with a dramatic flare and extremely vicious competitive side. She is a member of Satou Kazuma's adventuring party where she is often used to finish off their enemies due to her use of Explosion Magic, a one use spell which can one-hit almost anything.
After spending around a year in Kazuma's party, Megumin began developing romantic feelings for him, mostly because of his willingness to accept her use of an incredibly impractical skill despite her vast magical potential.
She is voiced by Rie Takahashi in the Japanese Dub of the anime who also voiced Emilia in Re:Zero and Ai Hoshino in Oshi no Ko, and Erica Mendez (who also voiced White Lily Cookie in Cookie Run: Kingdom, and Nico Yazawa in Love Live!) in the English Dub.
Appearance
Megumin has dark brown hair, red eyes, powerful magic affinity, and chūnibyō characteristics. She has a fairly slim figure for her age, often mistaken as a child, which worried Kazuma when she took a bath with him. Her red eyes are noted to glow when excited. Her birthday is December 4th.
Megumin typically wears a matching red top and skirt; a dress in the anime. She adds a witch hat and cape when in public. For pajamas she wears a matching pink shirt and pants.
Personality
Megumin is a straightforward girl, who speaks in an old Japanese dialect. She can be very hyper and lively at times and has chuunibyou tendencies like the rest of the Crimson Demons villagers. She is very intelligent, but has very little self-control, especially when it comes to using Explosion magic. She has no problem wasting her spell on empty plains or abandoned castles, as long as she can use Explosion once a day. Her impractical thinking has Megumin never increase her mana to avoid dropping from exhaustion. She also refuses to learn any other spells.
After being harassed for days by Megumin's Explosion magic, Beldia was ticked and named her the crazy-headed girl ("Girl with screws loose"). Much to Megumin's dismay, since the nickname describes her quite well, "crazy-headed girl" also became her official nickname in Axel. Kazuma stated that Megumin has the most common sense among the girls in the party, but considering her competition, it is not much of a compliment. Megumin also enjoys participating in (or starting) childish antics with Aqua or Darkness, and often acts over-dramatic to hype up the mood.
Megumin is generally calm and cheerful, but she can easily become aggressive when she feels slighted or challenged. Kazuma stated that she is magnanimous and cherishes her comrades more than anyone else. This is evident as she will become fiercely protective when others mock or try to hurt her allies. She also hates being treated like a child just because of her young appearance and becomes despondent when people call her a loli.
Her chuunibyou habits are largely only a public facade; Megumin acts much more normal and even admits to her delusions when at home with her friends.
Powers and Abilities
Megumin excels in Explosion Magic which enable her to create powerful explosions. Being obsessed with such a skill, she devotes all of her skill points into improving the power of her explosions, shortening her casting time, and being able to cast the spell instantly without chanting out loud. She can also make her explosion spell travel around in a zig-zag way at the cost of a much weaker effect. Unfortunately, using such magic often resulted the severe mana drain which results in her always collapsing after casting and becoming completely immobile. This is further exacerbated by the fact that she never increased the maximum capacity of her mana reserves unlike other Arch Wizards who master the same ability but are able to alleviate such setback in varying degrees and even mastering other forms of magic. Because of her obsession with her signature ability to the point she refused to learn any other magic, Megumin is entirely dependent on her allies after casting.

- In fact, all Crimson Demons have barcodes somewhere on their body, but only Megumin and Yunyun have had the locations of their barcodes revealed.
- Her name comes from Megumi, a nickname given to girls, which means "Blessing".
- This means her name is probably a reference to Konosuba's full name, with the word "Shukufuku" meaning blessing as well.
- Her nickname "Psycho Girl" is a pun on the Japanese word "Saiko" (最高, the best), a word she occasionally says after using her magic.
- Her small, childlike figure is described by her mother as genetic, but Megumin blamed malnutrition, as she mostly eats hard food and didn't have access to much food when she was young.
- Her purse is filled with shopping coupons and gift cards, despite her being a multi-millionaire.
- She barely sends money home, as she knows that her father will use it to make useless things.
- Megumin has tried to initiate sexual moments with Kazuma (from a handjob to actual sex); however, he turned her down on the first one while the second was ruined by Darkness spying on them.
