Pixls — hero

The Pixls are a species of Fairies/Robot who appear in Paper Mario videogame series.

They assists Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser in their mission against Count Bleck. Thirteen appear in the game, although there may be more, and they possess different forms and abilities.

The most important Pixl is Tippi, who has a different story from other Pixls and helps Mario and his companions from the beginning to the end of the game. After the end Tippi leaves the group, but can be replaced by Tiptron, a robotic Pixl that has the same function as her. Apparently, the Pixls don't need oxygen, as in Level 4, Deep Space, none of them seem to suffer.

History

3,000 years ago, a powerful wizard of the Ancients created the first twelve Pixls, transferring a spirit into a body or object that gave it personality. Upon his death, his apprentices continued his work, creating more Pixls after studying the original 12. While the Ancients were the mastermind, the Pixls were the arm and aided the Ancients in building castles and worlds as well. However, a doubt pervaded the minds of the Ancients: what if one day the Pixls had become too wise to rebel? In theory their personalities were supposed to prevent this hypothetical accident.

A thousand years after their creation, the Queen of the Pixls appeared, a Pixl so powerful that she could have control over the other Pixls and with her army rebelled against the Ancients. This was a blow to the Ancients, now dependent on the Pixls, and they were captured and enslaved by the Queen. The Pixls created by the creator's apprentices came to their rescue, freed the Ancients and locked up the Pixls in the Capture Cards, to then heal and free them. Many of the heroic Pixls perished that horrible day, but the last one standing, aided by one of the Pixls able to see the truth, overcame the illusions of the Queen of the Pixls and defeated her, but perished in the act. It was discovered, thanks to the heroic act of the Pixl, that the Queen of Pixls was the very first Pixl ever created. The creator, after studying the Propheticus Tenebrae, was apparently his way of resurrecting his dead daughter, putting her in another body, but the daughter had lost her memory until, as it gradually emerged, she became so frightened that she went mad and became a demon.

Discovering this, the Ancients took precautions: first, the Propheticus Tenebrae was secured by the last of the creator's apprentices; second, the use of Pixls would be limited; and third, no more Pixls would be created (and for that reason, the formula for their creation was destroyed forever and never passed down). Eventually, the Ancients decided that the Pixls would aid the Heroes of Prophecy in their quest to stop the Dark Heart, so they took the original eleven remaining Pixls and locked them away, some in chests for 1000 years, others were lost. There were very few Pixls left. One of those left, the same Pixl who managed to see beyond the Queen's illusions, was immediately put to work when Merlo-Eye, many years ago, found a dying girl and, barely remembering the procedure, transfused her spirit in the Pixl. The girl had lost her memory and so Merlocchio called her Consilia and treated her as her own daughter.

Finally, a few years later, the arrival of the first of the four Heroes of the Prophecy, Mario, arrived and Merlocchio entrusted him with Consilia, to whom he had taught everything he knew, and on the way to stop Count Ash and the Pure Heart, he also freed the other Pixls. At the end of the adventure, Ash and Consilia (who had recovered her memory), united in the sacred bond of marriage and stopped the Dark Heart. In doing so, the two returned to their own dimension and Consilia returned to the girl that she was. Ginoleonte, after the end of the world, built a robotic clone of Consilia, Consitron, but it is not a Pixl, but a robotic copy of Consilia.

Tippi: Resembling a stylized butterfly, Tippi was originally a human, named Lady Timpani, but was transformed into a Pixl by the wizard Merlon. She was in love with Blumiere, who would later become Count Bleck, but his father did not approve of this union, so he attacked Timpani and reduced her to death. Merlon found her and transformed her into Pixl to save her life. At the end of the game she is human again and she is reunited with Blumiere. Her power is to describe objects, characters and above all enemies; explaining its characteristics, attacks and weaknesses.
Thoreau: Resembling a square hand with five rounded fingers, Thoreau hides in the basement of the Ancient Country, in Lineland. The power of him is to pick up certain items and throw them at enemies.
Boomer: Similar to a stylized bomb, Boomer can be placed near an object or enemy to explode shortly thereafter and reappear immediately.
Slim: Resembling a stylized tornado, Slim allows heroes to "flatten" by turning sideways and avoiding certain obstacles.

Thudley: Similar to a stylized weight, Thudley allows you to perform a Ground Pound.
Carrie: Formed by small squares that if folded in the right way would form a cube. Carrie allows you to float at a small height off the ground, avoiding obstacles such as thorns and the like.
Fleep: Similar to a stylized rolling shutter, Fleep has the ability to turn portions of space to discover secrets.
Cudge: The shape is that of a stylized hammer. Cudge allows heroes to use the Hammer to hit otherwise too hard blocks and defeat jump-immune enemies.
Dottie: A circle surrounded by narrow rectangles like rays. Her power is to shrink heroes by allowing them to enter tiny crevices.
Barry: The first optional Pixl. He can be obtained by returning to Bittonia after completing Level 4. He has the shape of a circle with thorns around it, and can form a shield that lasts a few moments around the heroes and makes them invulnerable and harmful to enemies who touch them.

Dashell: The optional second Pixl. He's found at the end of the 100-Level Turnaround Maze. He is shaped like a stylized missile and allows heroes to run faster than normal.
Piccolo: The optional third Pixl. He is obtained by completing a long series of subquests. He has the shape of a stylized musical note (precisely a sixteenth note). Has the power to heal from status ailments.
Tiptron: Last Pixl, she is not original but she is a robot created by the nerd Francis. She has the exact same function as Tippi and can be purchased for 999 coins after she is gone at the end of the game.
