Ryas, also known as Itamen's Shadow, is a mentioned character in Horizon Forbidden West and the main protagonist of the 2023 spin-off video game Horizon Call of the Mountain.
He is a former Shadow Carja warrior and Urid's brother, who were both put on the opposite sides during the Carja Civil War. He was responsible for transporting Itamen, the former puppet prince of the Shadow Carja and his mother Nasadi to Sunfall, where he soon willingly captured himself by the Carja.
However, he later was pardoned by Avad and Marad, in exchange of investigating a new mysterious threat lurking within Sundom.
He is portrayed and voiced by Mark Allan Stewart.
Appearance
Ryas is a male who has a brown skin and a muscular fit. He wears the Shadow Carja armour. He has a tattoo on his right arm and left wrist. He has a quiver on his back.
History
Liberation
During the Liberation of Meridian, Ryas, a member of the Shadow Carja, was in charge of getting Prince Itamen to Sunfall, giving him the nickname "Itamen's Shadow". He was on one side of the Carja Civil War, while his brother Urid stayed with the Carja under the rule of the newly proclaimed Sun-King Avad.
Ryas eventually consented to being taken prisoner by the Carja, who held him captive at Sunstone Rock. Under Avad's instructions, he was saved from death, and Marad subsequently gave him a chance at freedom in return for looking into a fresh danger to the Sundom.

Abilities
Being a warrior of the Shadow Carja, Ryas is proficient in combat, who was able to fend off machines, be it from the smaller ones like Watchers to the much larger, more dangerous ones like the Thunderjaw and Fireclaw. He is also adept in the usage of bows. He also is a master climber, who is equipped with two climbing axes.
