Tripp is a main character that appears in Telltale's The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. He was a member and leader of the Prescott community as well as one of Javier García's allies. He was also briefly Eleanor's love interest.
He was voiced by Troy Hall.
Personality
Tripp is a brave, bossy, gruff but caring and loyal man. He also has a temper that can sometimes get the better of him, but he always manages to make it up to him and show affection for his loved ones. This is shown in his way of wanting to get back together with Eleanor although the feelings aren't reciprocated. It is also shown towards Javi when the latter has the possibility of sparing Ava rather than Tripp and it is ultimately Ava who is killed. Later, Tripp shows no resentment and remains completely loyal and helpful to Javi.
History
Tripp first appears when Javier enters Prescott with Clementine. Tripp brings them in and already knows Clementine, although he doesn't seem to like her. Afterwards, Tripp locks Clementine and possibly Javi in a cell after Clem kills Eli and he tells Javi that he will accompany him to the junkyard the next day. Javier can therefore choose between leaving the next day with him or the same evening with Eleanor. If Javier leaves with Tripp, they go to the junkyard together and Tripp expresses his jealousy that Eleanor seems to like Javi more than him. Afterwards, Javi finds Kate, Mariana and Gabe before they are attacked by a group of bandits. These survivors kill Mariana and injure Kate and Tripp yells at Javi to go back to Prescott. At the same time, Tripp leaves the place while Javi and Clementine fight off the group. In the following episode, Tripp, Javier and Conrad confront the same group of survivors who claim Javi in exchange for Francine whom they kidnapped. Whatever happens, Francine is killed and Prescott is stormed by the group. Tripp survives and flees with Javi, Kate, Eleanor, Conrad, Gabe and Clementine.
In the following episode, the whole group decides to go to Richmond and Eleanor and Kate part ways with the group. Tripp and the rest of the survivors encounter Paul "Jesus" Rovia who accompanies them on their journey. Arriving in Richmond besieged by The New Frontier Tripp and the group are locked in a cell waiting to see what to do with them. Eventually, the group is kicked out while Kate and Gabe are kept in the community. They then go to a warehouse where they find David and discover that members of the New Frontier are raiding other communities. Afterwards, the group fights these bandits before returning to Richmond. There, Tripp joins Eleanor and discusses their romantic relationship with her, although she is still not interested. They then reunite with the rest of the group in order to flee from Richmond whose exterior is invaded by the Walkers.
However, Eleanor betrays them and exposes the plan to Joan. Tripp and Ava are then taken hostage, about to be executed in front of the residents. Joan leaves the choice to Javi between saving Ava or Tripp. If he chooses Tripp, Joan betrays her word and has him killed instead of Ava. The same happens to the latter if Javi chooses to spare her, which shocks Tripp. However, if Ava is killed, Tripp disappears during the chaos in the city but survives. He joins the group on the roof of a building and Javi apologizes for choosing Ava over him. Tripp quickly forgives him and stays by his side. He dies a little later, when Walkers attack him on a destroyed footbridge and cause him to fall to his death.
Trivia
- Tripp's death is the same as Ava's if she survives the execution.
