Vicious (ヴィシャス, Vishasu) is a character from Tales of Crestoria. He is known across the world as the Great Transgressor (谷我鬼 / とがおに, Togaoni / "Self-Sinning Demon") and is treated as an enemy of the state. He is voiced by Yuuma Uchida.

Overview

A man whose sin is merely being born, Vicious is an amoral wanderer simply known as the "Great Transgressor". Amidst his journey in search of a certain place, he stumbles upon Kanata and Misella, who were just branded with Stains of Guilt, and helps them fight back by turning their Stains of Guilt into weapons known as "Blood Sins".

Appearance

Vicious has gray eyes and mid-length black hair with red tips. He wears a black coat with red lining that exposes his stomach and the brand around his navel. Vicious also wears black pants with leg-long boots. His look is completed with short, black gloves.

Personality

Hence his name, Vicious is a malicious and dangerous man with a fondness for violence and bloodshed, able to lay whole towns to waste with no remorse, though this has never been seen before. He is delighted to be considered an enemy and does not mind if others hate him, including his own companions. Vicious is ostensibly on the same side as Kanata and Misella, but he can be quite curt to them. He'll shoot at them, berate them, and say that they're not up to any task they try to undertake. However, it's less to do with hating them specifically and more to do with the fact that Kanata trying to be good in spite of everything irritates Vicious. However, Vicious starts to grow out of it when Kanata vows to destroy every vision orb, saying he wants along for the ride because it'd be fun to turn the world upside-down. He's still a jerk, just not quite as much of one to the party as the story goes on. He is actively fighting against an unjust system by helping Kanata and Misella try and stop the vision orb system. But Vicious also shows there is no ethical and/or moral line he won't cross, from kidnapping to blackmail and even murder.

Fighting Style

Vicious fights using his Blood Sin, dual pistols called Endless Torment (エバーペイン / 終わりなき痛み, Ebaapein / Owarinaki Itami) "Ever Pain / Endless Pain"^[1], having a similar fighting style to Illia Animi and Hubert Oswell. His artes hit multiple times and are good at building the Chain Gauge, effectively increasing the party's overall damage output.

Trivia

• Vicious's birthday is on May 17.
• Apparently, he's the only person who knows very little about the vision orb system.
• In the game's limited quest "Late-Summer Sunflower," Vicious claims that he grows stronger as more people are condemned. The truth of the statement is unclear, as it may have been a ruse to draw attention.
