Yellow Diamond is the secondary antagonist turned supporting protagonist of the Cartoon Network series, Steven Universe. She is one of the matriarchs of the Gem Homeworld and a member of The Great Diamond Authority. Yellow Diamond was first mentioned by Jasper in the Season One episode "The Return." Yellow Diamond is most likely either the leader of the Gem Homeworld, or Jasper's and Peridot's superior given the fact that both Gems have a yellow diamond on their outfits. Yellow Diamond also appears to be a greatly feared Gem given Peridot's and Lapis' reactions to Jasper mentioning her. By the end of Steven Universe, and the midst of its spin-off series, Future, Yellow Diamond has changed for the better, intending to utilize her power to aid downtrodden Gems.
She is voiced by famous Broadway singer Patti LuPone.
Heroic Side
Despite her totalitarian behavior and aggressive attitude, Yellow Diamond shows that she is not without her moments of kindness and charity. As the series progresses, she has developed a much better personality.
- In "Legs From Here to Homeworld", she is quite willing to work with the Crystal Gems to heal the corrupted Gems and is even willing to face White Diamond's wrath to ask for her help, all because Steven asked her to.
- In "Familiar", she wishes Steven good luck in reaching out to White Diamond, and notes that Pink always managed to make her laugh.
- In "Change Your Mind", Yellow Diamond has redeemed herself, realizing her errors. She then begins to see Steven as his own person and even tries to defend him from White Diamond.
- In "Homeworld Bound", Yellow Diamond seeks to make up for her "awful" Gem experiments by using her new power to fix the Gems she once shattered. She even tells Steven her intention to fix the shattered Gems made to create the Cluster.
- In "I Am My Monster", Yellow Diamond, along with the other Diamond and Spinel, tries to help the Crystal Gems calm the corrupted Steven (in his monster form) down.

- Yellow Diamond is the 5th gem to have a last name. Due to the fact that her gem has two words in its name, the first being Rose Quartz, the second being the Desert Glass, the third being Watermelon Tourmaline, the fourth being Lapis Lazuli, the sixth being Rainbow Quartz, the seventh being Blue Diamond, the eight being Blue Pearl and the ninth being Yellow Pearl.
- In Gemology, Diamonds are the stones of truth and victory.
- In "Catch and Release" Peridot states that she has not received a response from Yellow Diamond since her distress message in "Cry for Help".
- She is most likely the Yellow Gem seen on the mural in the episode "Serious Steven."

- In the series' video game sequel "Save the Light", it is revealed that according to Hessonite, Yellow Diamond gave her the Prism thousands of years prior to where the game takes place.
