Biography
Early Life
Fergus Reid was born in 1908, Scotland's lowlands to unnamed parents, and his childhood was defined by poverty and hardships. Fergus developed a cynical outlook on life, but developed a dry sense of sarcasm to deal with his hardships. Around the age of sixteen, Fergus got a job in the Glasgow shipyard where he remained until the great depression of the 1930s.
When World War II started, Fergus moved to Perth in central Scotland, and later joined the parachute regiment. Fergus would later train as an aviation mechanic, and was later promoted to airman after winning a bet while under the consumption of alcohol. Around the 1930s and the 1940s, Fergus met and befriended William "B.J." Blazkowicz, whom he would often refer to as "Blazko". In addition, Fergus became acquainted with agents Pippa Shepherd and Richard Wesley before the events of The Old Blood.
The Old Blood
After B.J. defeated the Monstrosity, he collected the folder from Helga von Schabbs' corpse and is knocked out by a falling rock. Fergus arrives and gets him out of the cave to escort him out of Wulfburg, and the two ride out in a boat. While on the boat, Fergus tells B.J. that Pippa sent a distress call, but they found her body and he is informed that Wesley was killed as well. Arriving at R.A.F. Kinloss, they prepare for the assault on Deathshead's compound while Fergus complains that he has to take a piss.
The New Order
Fergus and B.J. accompany the Allied troops in assaulting Deathshead's compound, fighting Nazi soldiers and managing to make it to Strasse's lab. After fighting Super Soldiers, Fergus, B.J. and Private Probst Wyatt III are captured by Deathshead. The Nazi general tells Blazkowicz to choose Fergus or Wyatt to be dissected, as he refuses to dissect Private Prendergast due to him being too injured.
Fergus' Timeline
Escaping Deathshead
If Wyatt is chosen, he will be dissected and Fergus, B.J. and Prendergast watch in horror as his brain is ripped from his body. The group escape from the compound, but Fergus and Prendergast are separated from B.J., who was hit by shrapnel in the back of the head. Fergus and Prendergast managed to swim to safety and join the Kreisau Circle, a resistance group led by Caroline Becker. During his time with the group, Fergus became weary of his old age and was haunted by Wyatt's death before being captured by the Nazis and sent to Eisenwald Prison.
1960
B.J. saves Fergus from Eisenwald, and the two escaped with the former's love-interest, Anya Oliwa. Fergus takes the group to the Kreisau Circle's headquarters, where B.J. reunites with Caroline. Fergus later helps the resistance retrieve stealth helicopters of Project Whisper at the London Nautica, but at the cost of Bram sacrificing himself to give B.J. enough time. After the mission, B.J. goes to Fergus to get the archive room keys, but the latter yells at Blazkowicz for choosing him over Wyatt.
Despite this, Fergus reconciles with B.J. and the two go on a mission with Set Roth to collect some Da'at Yichud technology. Going underwater with the use of the Eva's Hammer, the trio collect the Spindly Torque, and Fergus finds a power suit to give to Caroline. Fergus and B.J. later used the Spindly Torque to destroy a bridge so B.J. could get a German officer's suit to go on the Moon, and Fergus saves him from a Super Soldier. When Frau Engel attacks the resistance's headquarters, Fergus manages to escape with Becker and Max Hass as Anya, Bombate, Set and the others are captured.
Fergus and the group make one last attempt to stop Deathshead by assaulting his compound once again, but they use the Spindly Torque to destroy the front of the compound so B.J. can enter. B.J. manages to kill Deathshead, but the Nazi general detonates a grenade to kill Blazkowicz, killing himself in the process. B.J. survived the grenade, but is severely injured and gives Fergus the clear to destroy the compound. Fergus, Anya, Caroline, Set and Max discover an injured Blazkowicz, and take him to the Eva's Hammer to save their friend. Though B.J. survived, he was left critically injured for six months, leaving Caroline to go on missions with the Da'at Yichud power suit.
1961
By 1961, Frau Irene Engel became the head of the Nazi Party, and was hell bent on killing B.J. since he killed her lover, Hans "Bubi" Winkle. Engel attacked the Eva's Hammer and her soldiers managed to capture Fergus and Caroline, and B.J. decided to reveal himself to save his friends. Fergus and B.J. witness Caroline's death, but are saved by Irene's daughter, Sigrun, and escaped from the Ausmerzer. Fergus lost his right arm from Irene when Sigrun pushed her mother away from decapitating him, and Set gives him a cybernetic arm that constantly attacks him.
After getting his new arm, Fergus takes leadership of the Kreisau Circle, and decides to go with Caroline's plans to join with the American resistance to start a second American revolution. Fergus gives support via radio to B.J. on his mission in Manhattan to recruit Grace Walker and Norman "Super Spesh" Caldwell, and later helps Grace and her group get on the Project Whisper helicopter. During this time, Fergus becomes attracted to Maria Laurent, and wants to reveal his feelings to her, but doesn't know how to. After Manhattan, Grace comes up with a plan to bomb Area 52 in Roswell, and B.J. is later captured by Engel after dealing with his father.
Fergus and the group attempt to rescue B.J. by having Super Spesh be his lawyer, but Caldwell is killed by Engel. The group also attempt to attack the court house, but are forced to retreat and use a hacked drone to catch B.J.'s head upon being decapitated by Engel. Set gives B.J. a super soldier body to continue his fight against the Nazis, and Fergus and Anya support Blazkowicz on the ground in New Orleans. Fergus and Anya return to the Eva's Hammer after B.J. recruits Horton Boone and his group, and barely evade the Ausmerzer. Afterward, Anya comes up with a plan to get the ODIN codes to take over the Ausmerzer, and does so by having B.J. disguise himself as an actor to get to Adolf Hitler's auditions for his film on "Terror Billy".
When B.J. returns from Venus, Fergus and the resistance throw him a birthday party, where Fergus attempts to ask Maria on a date. Fergus' arm takes control and touches Maria, causing her to slap him. Angered, Fergus smashes the arm and leaves it and later pilots a project whisper helicopter drunk. The next day, Fergus is given his arm back and goes with B.J., Anya, Grace and Horton in sneaking into the Jimmy Carver Show to kill Engel. After B.J. succeeds in doing so, Grace and Horton give a speech for America to stand against the Nazis, kick starting a second revolution. During the credits, Fergus yells that he has had enough of the Nazis, telling America to take to the streets and show that the free people of Scotland will never surrender.
Wyatt's Timeline
If Fergus is chosen to be dissected, he will accept his fate and Deathshead kills him by collecting his brain. In 1960, Deathshead finished his research on creating a prototype robot, and puts Fergus' brain inside to fight B.J. at his compound. After B.J. defeats Fergus, the latter will beg him to kill him, and Blazkowicz tells him he will meet him in a better place. B.J. later avenges Fergus and his fallen comrades' deaths, killing Deathshead with his knife before the Nazi general commits suicide with a grenade. In The New Colossus, pictures of Fergus can be seen in Wyatt's room, but he is not mentioned in the game.
