FriendBot is a minor character in the Sonic Boom series.
In his self-titled episode, FriendBot was created by Dr. Eggman to destroy Sonic. But then, he joined Team Sonic after witnessing Sonic's heroism. FriendBot eventually took up the duty as the protector of the Cubot prototypes for a time, but he later moved to Roboken, so that he could protect the people who lived there.
He was voiced by Wally Wingert, who also voiced Cubot in the same show.
Personality
FriendBot is initially neutral and simply follows Eggman's orders: steadfast, merciless in battle, and unquestionably committed to his master's orders. After confronting Sonic and discovering his nature he decides to side with him and becomes social, kind and emotional and follows those he can trust and who he wants to have as friends. FriendBot now refuses to deal damage to those who don't deserve it. Her sense of friendship with him also made him grasp Sonic's heroism, which would inspire him to actively fight the bad guys and help the needy. However, he sometimes has very aggressive moments as Eggman had planned.
History
In order to defeat Sonic, Dr. Eggman invented a robot named FiendBot. But when Sonic saved the villagers, FiendBot realized that he was his friend. A little while later, Sonic gave FiendBot a new name, FriendBot. And then, he, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy took him to the Cubot prototype's hideout, so that he could be their protector. FriendBot also became a member of Team Sonic.
When Hypnobot mind-controlled all of the robots, they started to attack them. While Amy and Sticks were fighting against the robots, FriendBot tried to attack them. A short time later, Team Sonic and Team Cybonic worked together to defeat Hypnobot and save the other robots. Afterward, FriendBot decided to stay in Roboken with Bolts and Mighton.
Following FriendBot's departure, Dr. Eggman's other robot, D-Fekt, became the Cubot prototypes' new protector, and he fell in love with Cutebot.
Trivia
- According to Alan Denton, the writers contemated killing off Friendbot in his debut appearance, but ultimately decided it wouldn't be appropriate for the show's target audience.
