Joseph Joestar (仗世文・ジョースター, Josefu Jōsutā?), also known as Fumi (文), is a supporting charcter in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: JoJolion.
He is a young man living in Morioh who accepts a job offer from Lucy Steel to be her assistant and carry her luggage and camera equipment. He is the alternative counterpart of Joseph Joestar, wielding an unnamed Stand similar to Joseph's Hermit Purple.
Appearance
Fumi is a young man with buzzcut hair with an impressive physique. He wears a sweater with a striped collar, baggy shorts and a pair of sandals. Just like other Joestar Family members, he has a birthmark in his left shoulder.
Personality
In contrast with his original counterpart who is hotheaded and jerkish, this version of Joseph is more polite and affable towards others, as he refers to Lucy as "madam" before learning her name and cares for her well-being when she starts coughing. Like other Joestars, Fumi is very selfless and honorable, is willing to help others in need and risk his life saving others in danger. He is informative of local news and rumors, as well as local flora and fauna.
History
Joseph Joestar is the son of George Joestar III, and the grandson of Rina Higashikata and Johnny Joestar. He is named by his grandmother, who he lives with in the S city. His Japanese name is Josefumi (仗世文), thus he is nicknamed Fumi (文).
In 1941, Fumi travels to the station in S city to pickup his girlfriend. Before his girl arrives, he notices a thief trying to steal the luggage of an elderly Lucy Steel. Fumi quickly kicks his sandels at the thief and knock him down. As the thief runs away, Fumi returns the luggage to Lucy.
Lucy offers offers Fumi 20,000 yen to be her local guide around the city and to carry her heavy equipment. However Fumi rejects the offer because he needs to date his girlfriend. He notices Lucy holding a photograph of an orchard to which he calls the place of "The Radio Gaga Incident". Fumi's girlfriend arrives, but he finds out the thief stole his wallet before running away. Fumi has to accept the old woman's offer and set the date aside.
Fumi, Lucy, and Lucy's driver later arrive at Morioh's hunting grounds near the orchard owned by the Higashikata Fruit Company. When Lucy is observing the Higashikata House with a telescope, Fumi notices the remains of a bird under his foot and freaks out. Suddenly Lucy's driver says he is entranced by a voice only he can hear, then he strips naked and approaches the Guard Rail, just as the previous victims in the urban legend. A truck passes on the road and the driver disappears, leaving only his clothes and a severed hand. Fumi tells Lucy to run away as soon as possible, but Lucy refuses, explaining she came to Morioh to find a fruit called Locacaca growing in the cursed land similar to the Devil's Palm in America. Suddenly, Lucy also hears strange voices from the guard rails, she approaches the rails and finds out the eyes and mouth of Radio Gaga. Radio Gaga begins to drag her clothes and begin to devour her into the gap.
Noticing Lucy is in danger, Fumi drags Lucy away from Radio Gaga and rescues her. Lucy apologizes to Fumi for making him involved into the incident, and notes that Radio Gaga must be a new type of creature protecting the area. Suddenly Lucy starts to cough blood, so Fumi takes Lucy to the car. However the bloodied remains of the driver controlled by Radio Gaga pulls them back, dragging them to the car. Fumi exchanges the position with Lucy and allows himself to be dragged by Radio Gaga. Lucy spots Fumi's birthmark on his shoulder, knowing he must have a Stand, Lucy tells him to start the car engine. Fumi unleashes his vine Stand to drag the car to crush Radio Gaga.
After Radio Gaga is defeated, Fumi tells Lucy his name is Joseph Joestar, and stars to tells his story to her while carrying her on his back. In the same time, Lucy spots a man planting Locacaca on a pot before disppearing.
Fumi accompanies Lucy to her hometown in America. However, due to the breakout of World War II in 1941, Fumi is unable to return to S city. Fumi becomes Lucy's assistant, receiving an education and citizenship in New York. He later later works at a casino hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In 1952, he meets a woman Suzi Q who is from Speedwagon Foundation. They eventually marry and have two daughters.
