Gray Wing is one of the overarching protagonists of Erin Hunter's Warriors franchise.
He is the brother of SkyClan's founder Skystar - formerly known as Clear Sky, and was one of the cats to move to the forest from the Tribe of Rushing Water. He became horrified with his brother's heinous actions, and later had helped defeat both One Eye and Slash. Before his passing, he gave the five groups of cats settling in the forest the names they have today.
Appearance
Gray Wing is a sleek tom with dark gray fur and golden eyes. After The First Battle, he has a torn ear tip.

- He is the first main series protagonist to die while still being a POV character, with the second being Bristlefrost.
- He was first mentioned in Battles of the Clans, where he was known as Graywing the Wise.
- Gray Wing is regarded by the Clans as being the greatest leader of all time because of his battle strategies.
- He was never meant to be a protagonist in Dawn of the Clans, and was meant to die at the end of the first book. As the arc was written however, his death was pushed back further and further until it was decided he would only be killed off at the very end.
- Gray Wing is author Kate Cary's favorite character in Dawn of the Clans.
- Kate believes that Gray Wing is mates with both Turtle Tail and Slate in StarClan, with no animosity between the two.
