Moth Flight is a minor character in Warriors — Dawn of the Clans and the titular protagonist in Moth Flight’s Vision.
Moth Flight was the first official medicine cat who served in WindClan. She was the cat who coined the term ‘StarClan’ for the spirit cats who appeared to the early settlers. Moth Flight also discovered the Moonstone after following a green moth to the cave where it was located, and suggested it to be used as a way to communicate with StarClan. After becoming mates with Micah, a fellow medicine cat, and giving birth to four kits, Moth Flight realised that she couldn’t balance her work and parenting life, and made a new rule for medicine cats to never have kits.
Appearance
Moth Flight is a snowy-white she-cat with bright green eyes.
Biography
Dawn of the Clans
Moth Flight is born to Wind Runner and Gorse Fur alongside Dust Muzzle, Morning Whisker, and Emberkit. However, Emberkit and Morning Whisker later die as kits. Due to the tragedy, Wind Runner settles a new camp to raise her family, nervous about letting her kits explore the moor. Moth Flight and Dust Muzzle befriended Gray Wing when he joins them, and Moth Flight takes an interest in Reed (later Reed Tail)‘S talent for medicine. After Slash threatens the groups, Reed and Minnow lead a battle training session for Moth Flight and Dust Muzzle.
Moth Flight’s Vision
Mothe Flight first has a dream of a terrible battle in the future. She sees a blue she-cat lying on the ground, suffering from a fatal wound. Moth Flight begs for the surrounding cats to help the poor blue she-cat. She sees a fiery-ginger tom pad towards the blue cat. The blue cat soon dies of her wounds, and Moth Flight tries to get the cats to at least bury her. But to her surprise, the blue she-cat immediately resurrects. The cats around her aren’t slightly fazed by this miracle, though relieved.
Later on, Moth Flight is lured by a green moth to travel to the Highstones after Wind Runner banishes her for her carelessness from running into the Thunderpath and having to be rescued by Gorse Fur. She meets a farm cat named Micah, and they travel together to the Moonstone, led by the moth the spirit cats sent.
Her ancestors greet her, and Half Moon declares her as the first medicine cat, tasking her to recruit the other chosen cats. At the Gathering, the other Clans are highly skeptical about Moth Flight's words until the spirit cats send lightning to strike a tree. Moth Flight reveals the chosen cats to be Pebble Heart of ShadowClan, Dappled Pelt of RiverClan, Cloud Spots of ThunderClan, and Micah for SkyClan.
After, Moth Flight and Micah travel to the other Clans to exchange knowledge, and the two grow close. When Rocky suffers from redcough, Moth Flight and Micah go to SkyClan's territory to gather tree sap to cure him. Micah volunteers to climb the tree; however, while stopping a fight between Red Claw and Willow Tail, Micah falls from a tree and dies. Moth Flight later gives birth to their kits, Honey Pelt, Bubbling Stream, Spider Paw, and Blue Whisker.
Moth Flight helps mentor Acorn Fur, Micah's successor, and tries in vain to save Clear Sky's son, Tiny Branch. Tensions between WindClan and SkyClan climax when Willow Tail accuses SkyClan of stealing prey and Clear Sky keeps Moth Flight prisoner. The two Clans battle, and Wind Runner is gravely injured due to a broken leg.
Moth Flight, again guided by the moth, takes Wind Runner to the Moonstone where she receives her nine lives (annd revive her) and is named Windstar, the first leader to receive nine lives. Shortly after, Moth Flight realizes that she cannot be a mother and tend to her Clan simultaneously, deciding to give up her kits to each Clan, bringing the five Clans closer together by the bond of heritage, like the five petals on a star flower. In the manga, Moth Flight reunites with all of her kits in ThunderClan as she helps Blue Whisker give birth, but then follows her moth to join StarClan.
