Jimmy Novak is a character in Supernatural. He is the vessal for the angel Castiel and the protagonist of the episode "the rapture".
He was portrayed by Misha Collins, who also portrays Castiel in the same show.
Biography
Jimmy was a devoutly christian man who loved his wife Amelia and daughter Claire deeply. His devotion to his faith made him agree to let Castiel posess him which unfortunately led to Amelia cutting ties with him due to thinking he was unstable. When Castiel was taken back to Heaven to be "taught his lesson" Jimmy suddenly regained control of his body.
Sam and Dean Winchester both wanted information out of him and it turned out demons did too. Jimmy sought out his family but was persuaded to stay away from them for their own safety. After they were captured by demons he came to save them. Castiel came and took control of Claire to save the family, honoring his promise to Jimmy to keep them safe. Jimmy had the opportunity to ascend to Heaven but allowed Castiel to regain control of him to spare his daughter from the pain he had felt.
