The history of Rayla from The Dragon Prince.

Biography

Past

Rayla is the daughter of two moonshadow elves, named Tiadrin and Lain, who served in the Dragon Guard. The Dragon Guard was meant to protect the family of the Dragon King Avizandum, which lead to her parents having to leave Rayla to do so.

From an early age, she was trained by the assassin Runaan, who considered her a surrogate daughter, to follow in his footsteps after him and his husband Ethari decided to take care of Rayla while her parents left to protect the Dragon King.

During her childhood, Rayla met a child named Suroh, who told her that his family was kidnapped by the Bloodmoon huntress named Kim'dael, Rayla tried to ask Runnan and Ethari for help, but they believed that she was just joking due to being the Bloodmoon Festival at the time.

Understanding that no one would help her, Rayla went to Suroh and helped him in saving his family from Kim'dael by taking her blood vial to get her attention. While Suroh saved his family, the bloodmoon huntress kidnapped him to use his blood for her ceremony, and nearly killed Rayla by throwing her off a waterfall.

However, Runnan and Ethari would save her life and the latter would get Kim'dael's attention by fighting her while Rayla saved Suroh. After this, the bloodmoon huntress understood she couldn't defeat Runnan and Ethari, she swore that she would kill them if she ever saw them again before disappearing. Rayla then talked with Runnan and told him that she wanted to be an assassin so she could save as many people as possible as they sat looking at the sun alongside Ethari.

The winter of the year she turned 15, the humans of Katolis used unspeakable dark magic to kill Thunder, and crushed his only egg, Azymondias the Dragon Prince. Rayla's parents, though meant to fought to the last, fled their post, becoming distanced from their daughter. Rayla, seeking redemption, joined a mission to Katolis to assassinate King Harrow and his son Ezran. 

Book 1: Moon

While the moonshadow elf assassins were laying in wait in the forest by the Katolis capital, a guard came across them. Rayla chased him, and managed to pin him, but couldn't kill him. She let him go, and coated her blades in red berries to pretend she killed him when returning to the camp. This later came back to bite her, when king Harrow's advisor Viren sent a group of soldiers to track down the assassins, who barely survived by way of magic. Runaan, angered by Rayla's lies,  ordered her to remain while the others went to kill Harrow that night. Rayla decided to go to kill Ezran anyway, climbing the cliffside the castle was built on.

While infiltrating the castle, she encountered Ezran's half-brother Callum. After chasing him to Lord Viren's tower, she tolder him of her mission. Callum, hoping to protect his brother, told her that he was Ezran, but was stopped by the real Ezran's appearence. Using his glowtoad, Ezran blinded Rayla, and fled with Callum to Lord Viren's workshop, where they found Azymondias' egg, which Viren had kept in secret.

Rayla, recognizing the egg, realized that assassinating Ezran and Harrow was no longer necesarry, and decided that she would join the two princes in returning the egg to Thunder's mate. Before they could leave, she attempted to confront Runaan and convince him to stop the assassination attempt, but failed, and the other elves managed to kill Harrow, though everyone but Runaan died in the attempt.

While bonding with the two princes she manages to retrieve their family heirloom, the Key of Aaravos but this get them being tracked by Corvis, the prince’s and aunt’s top military tracker.

She saves Bait from an huge river fish and this act will be vital to later at the Battle of the Storm Spire.

While they were on the run they’ve been chased by Corvis and Viren’s two children Claudia and Soren, her wrist binding gradually sinks getting to the point that it will serve her left hand. She tried many times to cut it off but on avail and it worsened when she dropped the egg in Icey cold water forcing Ezran to recuse it, but they find it dying thus forcing them to get help which they did by the help of a moon mage, who “healed” a local’s pet dog. But she gets this off when Zym, the newly born Dragon Prince rips it off as thank you for saving him from off a cliff before the eye of the Storm hatches him.

Book 2: Sky

She was thrilled to listen to Callum’s letter about her, but she stayed on patrol because of their were signs that Claudia and Soren had catch up with them. Rayla Resistance and Claudia sleep spell by poke in the thorn of a blue rose and then she thought Soren until Claudia got her cornered until Callum intervened and managed to make an uneasy truce. There she set up a date in which Claudia told Callum the truth of his step dad’s death.

Rayla tried to apologize but Callum says he will tell his half brother as her in about their dad‘s death, but he later forgives her after he realized why it was so hard for Rayla to tell him. After Claudia gives Callum his stepfather’s sealed letter, Rayla a long with the moon mage set up illusions to expose Claudia and Soren’s evil intentions which they succeeded, but when Claudia was pulling them down with a dark magic spell Corvus intervene does allowing her, Bait, the princes, and Zym to escape. After they escape they took a boat ferry with an blind ex pirate named Villads who gave her words of wisdom about how life is like a river and it will lead her to her own path if she is willing to find it, because admits that being an assassin is not what she wanted.

They then found a dragon which put an entire village an entire on fire, and was shot down by Soren, while they tried to save him, they falied to do so, and an army of soldiers came to kill the dragon so they understood that there was nothing they could do to save it. Rayla, however, went back to save the dragon, and in order to protect her and the dragon, Callum used dark magic to free the dragon's chains, causing him to fall unconscious because of it.

After this, Rayla brought an unconscious Callum to a cave and took care of him, Corvus then appeared and told Ezran that he was the king and that he was at his service and about his mission to rescue him. Ezran, shocked and sad about his father being dead and that Rayla and Callum lied about it decided to leave for a bit to think.

When Callum waked up from his dream, he found Rayla about to kiss him, but Rayla finds it ackward and she acts she didn't do anything, she then learns that Callum can naturaly use magic now. Ezran then returns and decides that he would go back to Katolis while Rayla and Callum brought Zym to his mother because he accepted his role as a king.

Rayla and Callum then go to a lava pass and where able to go through thanks to the Moon Shadow path and the help of Zym and Ezran (who is able to see through Zym and helped him in flying so he could block the sun in the path so Callum and Rayla how to go through it. They then find Sol Regem, the first king of dragons, guarding the border to Xadia.

Book 3: Sun

When it was made clear they couldn't go through Sol Regem, Rayla tries to talk him into allowing them to get Zym back to their mother, while he agrees to allow Rayla and Zym through, he tells her that he would only do it if he allowed Calluk to get killed by him, or he would kill all of them. Rayla tries to convince the dragon to spare Callum by saying that he was a good person, but he tries to kill them after finding out that he had used dark magic.

Rayla would use Callum's scarf to bring Sol Regem's attention, which in the end caused him to get stuck in a wall and gave them enough time to escape. They would then go to Rayla's village and she finds out that she was turned into a ghost and that her people couldn't see her. Rayla would go to see Runnan's husband Ethari, who, after seeing her through a reflexion, told her that even though she betrayed Runnan and the other elves for good reasons, it was still her fault because they were dead.

After going to a fountain where she found out that all of her allies were killed, Ethari confronted her and broke her spell to hug her. Ethari then helped Rayla and Callum in their quest before they left. They would then go to the Midnight Desert with the help of a SkyWing elf named Nyx, and would spend a night in it and Rayla kisses Callum after complimenting her before understanding that he complimented her just to make her feel better, causing them to have a akward moment.

They then find out that Nyx kidnapped Zym, and go after her, but Nyx gets knocked out by Zym by using his lightning towards her. After getting Zym back, Nyx begged for Rayla and Callum to help her, while Rayla didn't like Nyx, she still saved her life with the help of Callum, and in return Nyx thanked them for saving despite everything she did and gave them advice that would be useful later on.

Rayla and Callum would reunite with Ezran on the Storm Spire where they find Avizandum's body that was turned into stone, and Rayla comforts Callum when, despite him hating the dragon for killing his mother, still felt sad about him being dead because his father killed him and the former took Zym's father from him and Rayla told him that by bringing Zym back to his mother, it would end the cycle of revenge.

Rayla would meet Soren in the Storm Spire and save his life, becoming his friends with him. Rayla would then try to stay in the Storm Spire while she told the others to leave the place when Viren's appeared. However, Callum convinced her not to because she wasn't doing it out of selfless intent but out of pride to fix her parents since they were accused of leaving the spire when Viren's attacked it.

Callum would later show her a drawing of her parents to prove that they gave their lives to stop Viren, causing her to love them for it. Rayla protected Zym during the battle of the Storm Spire and risked her life to stop Viren, and when he was about to suck the magic out of Zym, Rayla threw herself and Viren out of the spire to stop him, but Callum saves Rayla after learning how to use wings with magic.

Rayla is seen alongside the rest of her friends and soldiers who fought in the battle of the Storm Spire, and see Zubeia waking up, happy that there would finaly be between elves, dragons, and humans.

Through the Moon

Rayla was having problems in her parent's and Runnan's presumed deaths, and wheter or not Viren is still alive or not, so she helped in remaking the Moon Nexus so she and Callum could see if any of them were dead or alive. After remaking the Nexus with the help of Soren and Allen by lying it was a suprise to Lujanne, Rayla went to the bridge between life and death, only to become unconscious in the real world.

Lujanne then finds out about this and tells Callum not to take Rayla off the water since it would leave her an empty husk if she was removed while she was still in the bridge between life and death. However, Rayla finds Viren in a coccon and Callum uses one of Phoe-Phoe's feathers to go to the bridge and save Rayla. The next day, Rayla decides to leave Callum and her friends to find Viren, not wanting them to risk their lives for her.

It's later revealed in the short story named Dear Callum that Rayla left a letter to Callum, saying that she needed to face her fears and go after Viren, while also telling him that he was sorry to not be with him in his 15th birthday and cellebrate it with him.

During the time Rayla went to look for Viren, she would find a cuddlemonkey named Stella, who had lost her parents, so Rayla became a mother-like figure to Stella. Callum would not see Rayla again for the next two years, with him starting to question if she was even alive, but Ezran tells Callum that she was still alive and still loved him.

Chasing Shadows

While looking for Viren, Rayla would sneaked into a ship called the Wanderer's Maw so she could get to Scumport, an island where criminals, from hunters, to pirates, to thieves, would meet to exchange things, as she believed Viren was there. In the Scumport, Rayla would try to ask people if they knew anything about Viren, but they refused to tell her anything.

After this, a pair of Tibebound elves would approach her, with the intent of attacking her. However, when Rayla was about to take off her blades, a Moonshadow elf appeared and told Rayla to follow her. Rayla would decide to do so, and at her house, she would find out that, like her, the Moonshadow elf was turned into a ghost by her tribe.

The Moonshadow elf, who called herself Redfeather, told her that no one in the Scumport would tell her about the dark mage she was looking for, so she made a deal with Rayla, that she would help her find Viren if she helped her with something. While initially reluctant, Rayla agreed. They would later go to the Leviathan's Bones, a fighting pit in the Scumport, where Redfeather promised that she would help Rayla if she defeated three oponents for her.

There, they would see a fight between a Sunfire Elf named Darys and a Skywing Elf named Feathers. After Darys won, he challanged the crime lord and leader of the Scumport, Finnegrin, into a fight. Finnegrin, however, decided to send his champeon Deadwood, who would beat Darys to a pulp until Finnegrin gave Deadwood a nod to stop.

Rayla called Finnegrin a coward, but Redfeather told her that the reason he was doing it is to demonstrate stregth. Rayla would then enter the pit, where she defeated her first two oponents using they're characteristics and feats against them. However, her final oponent was a human, who was exiled from Katolis after the battle of the Storm Spire.

The human was able to defeat Rayla due to both his abilities and Rayla getting distracted due to remembering Callum during the fight. She was then given a wooden token, which Redfeather revealed to be Finnegrin's Favor, which allowed her to enter and leave the Scumport. Redfeather then told her that she would give her the dark magic ingerdients that Viren was possessing in exchange to telling Rayla where he was, which she reluctantly accepted.

Rayla would then go to the nothern coast of the Scumport, the place Redfeather told Rayla where was. There, she saw a cloacked dark mage make a deal with a Skywing elf, who, after he finished the deal and the elf left, Rayla would allow herself to be seen by the mage, which caused him to run. Despite his use of dark magic to try and slow her down so he could escape by using a boat, Rayla was able to catch him.

Then, Stella opened the chest the dark mage was holding, which was revealed to be a blood coral, which the dark mage would use to distract Rayla so he could escape. After seeing his face, Rayla realized that he wasn't Viren, and gave Redfeather a blood coral she was able to grab from the dark mage. Rayla would then use the Finnegrin's Favor to leave the Scumport and go back to Katolis to see her friends, seeing them as the closest thing she had to a home now.

Book 4: Earth

A day after Callum's birthday, Rayla would sneak into Katolis' castle and meet Callum. However, Callum would try to avoid talking to Rayla, as he was still saddened over her leaving him for years, but he still allowed her to sleep next to him in his couch.

The next day, Rayla left while Callum was still sleeping, and would later appear after Ezran's speech about peace and how violence still exists in it, and that they should still try to keep peace no matter what, where she would talk to Ezran, and while she didn't believe he would accept her easily, Ezran imediatly hugged her and told her that he was happy to see her again.

They would then see a message sent by Ibis about how Aaravos had returned, so Team Zym went to the Storm Spire with Aaravos' mirror. They would then find Ibis' body, with them making a small ceremony and turning his body into birds.

They would then try to inspect Aaravos' mirror, with Aaravos possessing Callum. While possessing Callum, Aaravos would taunt the members of Team Zym, calling them pathetic children, with Rayla in particular Aaravos taunted her over her inability to kill despite being trained to be an assassin.

Aaravos would then destroy his mirror, and Zubeia decided to go to Rex Igneous to find where Aaravos was imprisoned, so all the members of Team Zym, with the exception of Azymondias himself who Zubeia ordered to stay in the Storm Spire, and went to the mountain where Rex was named Umber Tor.

They would find out that the only way to Rex was through a gate that was too small for Zubeia to fit in, so she wished them good luck and went back to the Storm Spire. While entering the mountain, they find out that there were Earthblood Elves named Drakeriders who hunted dragons for sport and would likely attack them.

During this time Rayla and Soren went to search for where Rex Igneous was, and they would find a Drakerider named Warlon beating a dragon, and while Rayla reluctantly told Soren to leave and not do anything about it so their cover wouldn't get blown, Soren went to save the dragon, but ended getting captured by the Drakeriders.

Rayla, however, believed he just stayed to do something else and didn't notice he was gone until next morning, and the next day after understanding he disappeared, she felt bad about it. Azymondias would then appear and Rayla jokes that even if they were able to get to Rex Igneous and saved Soren from the Drakeriders, they would still dies as Zubeia would be angry at how Azymondias went after Team Zym even after Zubeia told her son not to.

Ezran would then try to use his psychic connection to Azymondias to find Soren, but a group of Drakeriders would appear and try to capture Azymondias, but Team Zym were able to defeat Warlon. After this, it's revealed that the child Earthblood Elf and who would soon be Drakerider captured Azymondias, but refused to kill him, causing him to decide Team Zym get to Rex Igneous.

N'than brought them to the temple where they could find Rex Igneous. They would then go through several obstacles, such as a path made by touching especific crystals and creatures who attacked anything that could make light. Before they met Rex, they found out that Rex and Azymondias' father Avizandum were rivals, so Callum makes an illusion and turns Azymondias into a dog so he wouldn't get in trouble with Rex. When they met Rex, he originaly disliked the gifts he gave them and planned to kill Team Zym, but Ezran gave him a brown sludge tart Barius made for him, which Rex liked and caused him to allow them to ask him one question, and they asked him where Aaravos was, but Rex laughed about why he would even tell them where the most dangerous being in the world was.

Ezran told Rex that Zubeia sent them, but Rex started asked why she would ask him for help and not her mate Avizandum, and started mocking Avizandum, causing Azymondias to attack Rex in a fit of rage, and Azymondias accidentaly reveals himself and breaks the illusion, so Rex started tauting Zym over how much he thought his father was a coward for sending his son to him rather than going to him by himself.

Ezran then told Rex that Avizandum was dead and was killed by Viren, causing him to decide to help them since Avizandum used to be his friend before they became rivals by telling them of the map he had in one of his tooth. However, Claudia appeared and put everyone asleep, but Soren was able to wake Rayla up by putting his foot close to her nose. Rayla then woke up Rex to stop Claudia from getting the map to Aaravos' prison by stabbing him in his left paw.

Rex would then wake the others up due to him starting to scream and causing the cave they were in to start collapsing, and while Ezran tried to call him down, Rex believed they were trying to decieve him, so Rex tried to kill Team Zym. While the others left Umber Tor, Rayla noticed Viren and went after him, and when Claudia was about to escape, she threatened Terry.

Despite this, Claudia used her own threats to make Rayla release Terry by throwing the coins that had the souls of Rayla's parents and Runaan, only to be revealed to be rocks and Claudia still had the coins. However, Terry confronted her on how he thought what Claudia did was terrible, causing Claudia to give Rayla the coins. Rayla would then leave Umber Tor and Team Zym would have a big hug together.

Book 5: Ocean

Back in Katolis, Rayla tells the cursed coins of her loved ones that she missed them. Bait would then enter her room, and Rayla promises the coins taht she will find out what happened to them and that she would help them. After this, Callum would knock, causing Stella to throw the coins in one of her portals. Callum then asked who she was talking to, but Rayla lied by saying it was Bait.

Rayla then suggested to Callum to find something in Katolis' library about how they could be able to kill Aaravos in case he escapes, as Viren and Claudia were already ahead of them. That night, Rayla would sneak into Callum's office to meet with him, but he wasn't there, so Rayla tries to open the paiting that lead to Viren's dungeon. However, Callum would appear, so Rayla tells him that she was waiting for him and was admiring the painting.

After this, they would leave and Callum locks the door to his office. Rayla then asked Callum if he had found anything about Aaravos, but Callum informs her that everytime he saw anything about Aaravos, the page would go blank and black out. Rayla would tell Callum to search for "the First Ones", as Startouch elves are sometimes called that.

Rayla then bumps into Callum, with Stella stealing the key to Callum's office during this. They would then go to the office and open the painting to get to Viren's dungeon. In the dungeon, she finds the place where Runaan was imprisoned. While searching the dungeon, they would find the cursed coin of Kpp'Ar, Viren's former mentor. Rayla, unaware of who he was, asked it.

The cursed coin's face would then move, causing Rayla to drop it. Rayla then finds Runaan's bow while trying to grab the coin. Rayla then has an hallucination of her parents and Runaan, and while she says she loves them, Rayla tells them that she can't help them now because she needs to save the world from Aaravos. Rayla then leaves the dungeon, and would get surrounded by three guards.

Opeli then had her arrested, and Callum would go talk to Opeli to convince her to free Rayla. Opeli then revealed to Callum that Rayla stole the key to his office, entered in Viren's dungeon, and was with the bow that was used to kill his father. Despite this, sphe still had Opeli free Rayla. Later, Rayla would go to Callum's room and try to apologize, but Callum toldher that she didn't need to, and that she could tell him when she felt she was ready.

Callum would then tell Rayla that all of the information about the First elves was located in the Scroll of the First elves. Rayla then responded that the scroll was located in the Great Bookery of Lux Aurea. Callum would then ask Rayla if she wanted to go to Xadia the next day, which she agreed to. The next day, while Callum was thrilled about the morning, Rayla was still tired and told Callum to talk more quietly.

Barius and Opeli would then appear, which caused the horse Rayla was riding on to throw Rayla when it heard Barius telling them to wait. He would then give them hot brown morning potion and a few new treats he called Doughie-o's. Later, Rayla would suggest for them to sleep in the forrest to get more energy for the next day, but Callum told her that they should go to an inn that was close from there. While Rayla was reluctant, she would agree to go to the inn.

The next day, they would talk about how much they liked their night in the inn and the things in it. At the bridge that Viren made two years before to bring his army into Xadia, Rayla would refer to the place as a scar, but Callum told her that the place was also a bridge between their two worlds, and that they were now crossing it together, which made Rayla happier.

That night, they would look at the stars and talk about how the constelations were called differently in Xadia than in the Human Kingdoms. Rayla then told Rayla that she was happy that they could look at the stars together. However, Rayla heard a noise during the night, which caused her to wake up, and after seeing that there was something in the forrest, she woke up Callum and told him that they needed to go.

A corrupted banther would then appear and attack them, and after saving Callum and Bait from it, Rayla would shoot one of Ethari's arrows into the banther, which knocked her long enough for them to escape. The next day, they would get to the Sunfire camp and meet with Gren, who expected them to already know about Amaya and Janai's wedding, but after fidning out they didn't, he chose to stay silent until they met with Amaya.

While Janai was choosing the flowers for their wedding, Callum and Rayla would appear, with Rayla quickly realizing that someone was getting married, with Amaya and Janai telling Rayla and Callum that it was them. After Callum hugged Amaya, Callum and Rayla informed them about how Claudia and Viren are trying to free Aaravos, and they needed to get to Lux Aurea to obtain information about Aaravos.

Janai, however, refused to allow them, as she didn't want to put anyone in danger by going to the city as it was filled with beings corrupted by the Sunforge. Despite this, Callum and Rayla decided to go to Lux Aurea anyway behind Janai's back, and Amaya decided to go as well, and convinced Janai to allow them, although she decided to stay at the camp to protect her people.

Later, Callum, Rayla, Amaya, Gren, and Kazi would get to Lux Aurea and searched through the Great Bookery. There, Amaya apologized for her past treatment of Rayla, and after Rayla forgave her, Amaya thanked her, before threatening to kill Rayla if he ever hurt Callum the way she did in his birthday 2 years ago. However, after understanding that she left to protect Callum, Amaya sympathized with Rayla, due to how she also distanced herself from others after her sister's death to protect the ones she loved, and allowed Rayla to hug her.

Rayla would then meet with Callum after he and Kazi found a way to kill Aaravos, being a sword called the Nova Blade, where she told him that she was carrying a burden and was keeping it secret from him. After Callum told her that he would do anything for her, Rayla revealed that Viren trapped her parents and Runaan in cursed coins, with Callum telling her that he could free Rayla's loved ones from the cursed coins.

A few minutes before sundown, Gren and Kazi decided to go back to camp to avoid the Sunforge corrupted creatures, while Amaya grabbed Callum so they could leave before sundown. However, by the time they were about to get to their horse, they found a corrupted banther eating it, so they decided to escape from another exit. However, Callum accidentaly drops some books, which caused the banthers to detect and try to attack them.

Because of this, they decided to fight the banthers and hold their ground at the middle of the bookery. However, they were saved by Zubeia, the rest of Team Zym, and Corvus, who helped them escape, although Amaya and Corvus got trapped, but were able to save themselves by hiding in the book drop. At the Storm Spire, Callum informs Ezran about the Novablade and how they couod use it to kill Aaravos.

Ezran, however, believed that it would be better not to use it, as they could avoid violence by going to the archmage Akiyu and find out where Aaravos' prison was. Callum believed that they were too far behind Claudia to take that risk, so they give the final choice to Rayla, who chooses to go after Akiyu. Zubeia would then bring Team Zym to some tidepools close to Akyiu's location, before returning to the Storm Spire and telling them that she would come to pick them at sundown.

While walking through the tidepools, Team Zym gets cornered by carion gulls, so Soren gets the idea of hiding in giant crab shells to get across the tidepools, but it doesn't work and they get surrounded. However, they are saved by a Tidebound elf who called herself Tidebound Tina by scaring them away. Ezran would then ask Tina if she was Akiyu, but she laughs it off by asking him if she looked like an legendary archmage.

Ezran would then ask Tina if they could talk with Akiyu, so she puts a shell in her ear and fakes talking with Akiyu, whom she says to Team Zym is refusing to allow them to speak with her. Despite Akiyu's warnings, Team Zym decided to fo meet Akiyu anyway, so she tricks them into going to a sea creatures mouth, which almost gets them killed with the exception of Soren who realized it was a trap before the creature closed its mouth, but they were able to escape due to Zym eletrocuting the creature's stomach and forcing it to releasd them.

Callum then realizes that Tina is Akiyu, and after Ezran asked why she tried to kill them, Akiyu explained that she swore and oath with the Jailer to protect the location of Aaravos' location, but after learning that two mages were after Aaravos and knew his prison's location, Akiyu decided to write the location of the prison on the map before ordering Team Zym to leave.

At night, Team Zym went to the meeting point where Zubeia was supposed to get them, but due to her getting infected by the sickness of the Sunforge, she was unable to get there, so Rayla decided to get to Aaravos' prison by getting a boat in Scumport, which she was able to allow Team Zym in with Finnegrin's Favor. While Ezran and Callum went to Finnegrin's office to convince him to give them a boat to get to the Sea of the Castout, Soren and Rayla tried to convince other people in Scumport to do the same, but it failed.

During this, Soren tells Rayla that he found a captain that would help them get to the Sea of the Castout, which is later reveal is Villads after Callum and Ezran came back after the latter's talk with Finnegrin, with Nyx now working with him. Ezran would then tell the group that Finnegrin had things in his office that he shouldn't have, so they make a plan to break into his office, with Rayla stealing the keys from a distracted Finnegrin so Ezran and Zym could get into the office and take a chest in Finnegrin's table.

It's then revealed that the things in the chest are infant glow toads which the team takes in, but Finnegrin decides to go after them for what they did. While they make multiple attempts to escape from Finnegrin's ship Sea Legs, they fail and it catches up to the Ruthless. Finnegrin then captured Team Zym and their friends, with him bringing Callum to his quarters to force him to do dark magic.

After his attempts to convince him and torturing him failed, Finnegrin tries to make Callum chose which one of his friends would have his hands cut off, but before he was forced to make the decision, Rayla freed herself from her chains and tried to attack Finnegrin, but she used a spell called Veinus Frigardis, which makes her crumble to the ground in pain.

Furious by what Finnegrin did, Callum punches him, which makes Finnegrin decide to have Rayla eaten to a sea leviathan out of spite. However, Callum, through the use of dark magic, is able to save Rayla and learn the ocean arcanum. After this, Soren is able ti convince Finnegrin's abused bodyguard Elmer into standing up to Finnegrin, who kills him and frees Team Zym and Finnegrin's crew.

Using Sea Legs, they are able to get to the Sea of the Castout, where they use a spell Akiyu gave them so they could breathe underwater and get to the place where it was kept Aaravos' prison. However, Claudia appears and fights them, although they are able to defeat her, with Rayla cutting off one of her tentacles, which was actually her leg and Callum opens the vile which gave Claudia the ability to turn into a squid-like hybrid, turning her back to normal and forcing her to go back to the surface. The trio then brings a pearl that presumably had Aaravos' prison into the boat where Soren was waiting for them.
