Sig is a dreamy boy who first appears in Puyo Puyo Fever 2. He sometimes smiles, but his words show little emotion, and he tends to be passive, except for his strong interest in insects. This lack of emotional expression has led some to think he struggles with feelings. In Puyo Puyo Fever 2, it is revealed that he comes from a demon lineage, though he is unaware of this fact. His left eye is red, and he has a large red claw for a left hand, which highlights his demonic background. He also serves as a secondary antagonist (well not really, as it was "The Other Sig") in Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop, working alongside Meena.
He is voiced by Yuriko Fuchizaki in the Japanese dub, while in the English dub, he is voiced by Benjamin Diskin.
Biography
Sig's background is mostly a mystery, but he probably seemed ordinary before Puyo Puyo Fever 2 started. His looks likely changed soon after he joined Primp Magic School.
Appearance
His most notable traits are his heterochromia and red left arm, which stem from his demonic background and are believed to have developed just before the events of Puyo Puyo Fever 2. He has blue and red eyes, with the left eye being red. Sig sports sky blue hair, featuring hair antennae that appear to be flexible.
In Puyo Puyo Fever 2, he dons a high-collared jacket in white and blue, accented with an orange brace, along with dark blue pants and blue shoes. Light blue ankle socks are visible above his shoes. He also has a large bag at his waist, adorned with the school's wing-shaped emblem.
In Puyo Puyo 7, his outfit is a lighter version of the boys' Suzuran school uniform, and he still carries his waist bag.
In Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, he wears a dark blue t-shirt with white sleeves, featuring a beetle design on the front. His pants are a lighter blue with a white stripe around the knees, and his shoes are now white and blue with green soles.
Personality
Sig is often seen as a boy who moves through life at his own speed. He doesn't express much emotion, rarely raises his voice, and approaches everything with a laid-back attitude, speaking in a flat tone. He can be quite forgetful, often missing sarcasm or taking metaphors at face value.
One of his main interests is his love for bugs. Since Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary, he has frequently been seen with bugs, and his goals often relate to them. He has a special bond with a small ladybug that he cares for deeply, feeling anxious if it is threatened, like when Witch wanted to use it in a potion in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary. In Puyo Puyo Tetris, when Schezo traps him, Sig shares that he has a family of bugs living in his left arm. Fearing that Schezo might take his hand, he asks for a moment to say goodbye to his bugs.
The Other Sig
A different entity from the usual Sig has appeared twice and taken over his body. The first time was in Sig's Secret, triggered by a power-up potion made by the Witch and given to Amitie. The second instance occurred in Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop when Meena used some of Sig's powers. In Sig's Secret, this entity is described as having darker hair, two red eyes, and a much harsher voice compared to the regular Sig. While these physical traits are not shown in Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop, his voice is noticeably different. He does not have a name in either instance or refuses to be called Sig. Even when he controls Sig's body, Sig remains aware and can see and remember everything happening.
This entity has a cold and cruel personality, showing no mercy in pursuing his goals. The first time, he tried to unseal a box in the Ruins of the Seal in Sig's Secret, and the second time, he sought more power to dominate the Dream World in Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop.
He seems to sense the power in Amitie's red Puyo hat, but what this means is still unclear. His behavior is so different that he appears to be separate from the alternate costume Dark Sig introduced in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary.
Abilities
His powers come from Blue Magic, so all his spells focus on different shades of blue and blue-related items or ideas. His attacks feature names like Teal, Acid, Zenith, Cyan, Paraiba, Asmalte, Robin's Egg, Lapis Lazuli, Celestial, and Hydrangea. However, in the English versions of Puyo Puyo Tetris, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, and Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop, Hydrangea is changed to Cobalt. He also uses Cerulean and Lapis Lazuli in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary.

Trivia
- His birthday is June 16th (6/16), the same day as Possessed Klug, which is thought to be the original number of the beast. He has a unique talent for sleeping with his eyes open. He dislikes ghosts the most. Sig is one of the few characters who lacks symmetry, resulting in two different sets of artwork for when he faces left and right.
- The name "Sig" is of Nordic origin. In Nordic naming customs, parts of the father's and mother's names are combined to create a child's name, so "Sig" appears in many Scandinavian names, like Sigmund. In the Japanese versions of Puyo Puyo games, Sig does not have a personal identifier, as noted in the Puyo Puyo 25th Anniversary book, which lists identifiers for all characters.
- The Other Sig does have the identifier 我 (wa), which is the same as the one used by the Crimson Spirit, but this version is written in hiragana instead of kanji. The red color of Sig's left hand and eye may symbolize the connection between evil, misfortune, and the left side, as seen in some cultures. It could also come from the Latin word "sinister," meaning "left."
- Sig's spell and repeater, Hydrangea and Acid, are linked by his blue color scheme, referencing how hydrangeas turn blue in acidic soil. He likely represents the acidic side of the pH scale, while Possessed Klug, who shares the spell Hydrangea in red, represents the basic side. In the English version of Puyo Puyo Tetris and later games, the spell Hydrangea is changed to "Cobalt," likely referring to the element cobalt and its blue color. Cobalt II chloride changes from blue to red in water, showing a slight acidity. However, Acid is renamed "Acid Wash," losing its original connection.
