Fester Addams is one of the main characters of The Addams Family franchise. He is the older brother of Gomez Addams and the brother-in-law of Morticia Addams. He is also the older son of Grandmama Addams, and the uncle of Wednesday Addams and Pugsley Addams.
Fester seems to have the ability to generate electricity as shown by putting a lightbulb in his mouth and it lighting up. He is tradionally seen with a heavy black coat. He is shown like all the others to have a dark sense of humor and deep love for his family.
Portrayals
- In the 60s TV series, he was portrayed by the late Jackie Coogan.
- In the first two live action films, he was portrayed by Christopher Lloyd, who also portrayed Dr. Emmett Brown in the Back to the Future franchise, Charlie Wilcox in Suburban Commando, the title character in The Pagemaster, and Pachacamac in Knuckles.
- In the 90s cartoon show, he was voiced by the late Rip Taylor.
- In The New Addams Family, He was played by Michael Roberds.
- In the animated film duology, he was voiced by Nick Kroll, who also voiced Gunter in the Sings films, Nick Birch and Maury Beverly in Big Mouth, and Modo Olachenko in GOAT.
- In Wednesday, he is portrayed by Fred Armisen, who also portrayed Deborahbot 5000 in The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Cole in The LEGO Ninjago Movie, Cranky Kong in The Super Mario Movies, and KVN in Final Space.
Appearance
Uncle Fester is a tall, medium sized man with a white face. He is completely bald, hunched, and barrel-shaped man with dark, sunken eyes and often a deranged smile. He always wears a heavy, full-length fur coat.
In the Netflix series, Fester wears a black hat and a long thick black coat. He has a dark patch on each side of his eyes.
Personality
Despite Uncle Fester's menacing look and strange behavior, he is actually gentle and caring to everyone. He shows great respect to Gomez and Morticia. He has always exhibited love and great care to his niece and nephews, despite their frequent mischief.
Despite this, he himself is a very mischievous individual. A good example of this is when he was young, he and Gomez would blow up parts of a lake for fun or how he often likes to scare people he meets.
In the Netflix series, he is a very supportive person, especially to his niece Wednesday and Thing as he helps them solve cases. He is also quite caring and worries about Thing, trying to cure Thing when he gets stabbed by Laurel off-screen. He also shows disgust at Augustus Stonehearst experimenting on Judi, calling experimenting on his own daughter twisted even by his own sick standards.
