Because I... love Pokémon! I really love Pokémon! That's why the bond that sprouts between us is irreplaceable! To us, it's the most precious thing in the whole world! It's our... treasure. Spinel. You must feel the same way! You must love your Umbreon! And even Umbreon... Umbreon must... It loves you too, which is why it's gone this far...!
~ Liko explains why she holds faith in the bonds between people and Pokémon, after Spinel questions her.
Even if we can't see them, we can still feel them. I've felt them time and time again. With Pokémon by my side, I can step forward! All of the people and Pokémon that live on this planet... I believe in them!
~ Liko giving a speech about bonds between people and Pokémon, after Spinel's breakdown.
I have lost, again and again... I have failed time and time again... I have stumbled time and time again... But... Friede taught me... That's not losing! That's not failure! As long as I don't give up, a path will open for me! If I step forward, I'll find hope!
~ Liko confronting Spinel, who has merged himself into the Laquium Core.

She also makes efforts to help bring the best out of people, encouraging a socially reclused Dot to open up by inviting her to lunch and to watch Nidothing upon mistakenly thinking she was a fan of their videos. She also goes out of her way to care for Pokémon, helping to rescue Sprigatitto from Amethio despite not getting along with it well initially, helping an enraged Annhilape calm down, and trying to protect a wild Happiny from a Scovillain afflicted by Laquium. As stated in her speech towards Spinel, Liko deeply loves Pokémon and finds the bond between people and Pokémon the most precious thing to her. Furthermore, Liko also tries to see the good in people. She feels so when Grusha fails her Terastal Training, telling Amethio she wanted to learn more about Tersatal to help Pagogo but still lost. She starts becoming more dejected after losing Friede in the incident in Laqua, being more reserved in school to the point of not keeping up with Nidothing's videos anymore. Liko grows to be more confident in herself as a Pokémon trainer, even running towards Zygarde with Floragato to stand by it during the first confrontation in Laqua. She even confronts Spinel about his schemes with several speeches.

Biography

Liko is a girl originally from the Paldea region, who enjoys watching videos from the popular streamer Nidothing. Liko, bearing a mysterious pendant given by her grandmother, enrolls in Indigo Academy and meets Sprigatito. The two initially do not get along, not before Amethio, a thief from the mysterious Explorers organization, manages to steal Sprigatito. However, she manages to get him back and joins the Rising Volt Tacklers upon meeting Friede, her bodyguard assigned to protect her pendant by her grandmother Diana. She also meets Roy who eventually joins the Rising Volt Tacklers, and sets out on a quest to catch the Six Heroes owned by the Ancient Adventurer Lucius. At first, Liko struggled to get to know Dot. However, Spinel manages to put Liko in a daze with his Beeheyem and steal her pendant, causing her, Roy and Dot to unite and retrieve her mysterious pendant. Dot warms up to Liko, revealing herself as Nidothing to Liko's shock. She soon captures the Galarian Moltres and battles the Explorers who invade Diana's old castle.

Later on, her pendant reveals itself to be the Legendary Pokemon Terapagos. Liko also catches Lapras and a Hattena, and battles the Black Rayquaza with her allies. She embarks on a Terstal Training course in Naranja Academy, in hopes of learnign more about Terastal to know how to help Terapagos. She travels with Roy and Dot to battle the different Gym Leaders in Paldea, only to fail her second test against Grusha. Liko falls into a trap set up by Spinel, and is forced to find a way out with Amethio. She helps to fight Sidian during the break-in at Naranja Academy by the Explorers. At the Crystal Pool in Kitakami, she meets Rystal who entrusts Terapagos to her whom she nicknames as 'Pagogo'. She eventually catches Kealvor and Gouging Fire, and Roy captures the Black Rayquaza. The Rising Volt Tacklers head to Laqua where Liko, Roy, Dot and Amethio fight against Gibeon's White Zygarde and win, with Floragato evolving into Meowscarada. However, Spinel activates the Strong Spheres after declaring himself the new leader of the Explorers, causing the Six Heroes (except Rayquaza) to go feral, destroying their surroundings. The group starts to evacuate, but Liko trips and accidentally drops Lucius' belt and notebook into the ground fissures to her devasation. However, once the group can reach the Brave Olivine, Friede and his Charizard get blown off by the harsh winds to the group's shock.

Spinel frames the Rising Volt Tacklers for the incident in Laqua, and the Rising Volt Tacklers disband, with Liko even thinking that Friede might be gone. She starts being more reclused and depressed and returns to studying in Indigo Academy, but Roy comes back to visit her and the two embark on a new journey to reform the Rising Volt Tacklers. They meet a new ally named Ult and reunite with Dot, battling several wild Pokémon inflicted by Laquium and battling the Explorers in a Strong Sphere testing center. After convincing the adult members to reform the group, Liko catches a Charcadet who develops a rivarly with Amethio's Ceruledge. The younger memebrs head to Blueberry Academy to train, with Liko's Hatterem evolving into Hattena. The group invades another Explorers' base, with Charcadet evolving into Armarouge and successfully retrieving the Six Heroes. However, Spinel once again frames them as thieves on the news, forcing them to go into hiding even more. However, the group soon reaches Laqua with several of their allies, such as Nemona, Penny and Diana, using the 16 strong Pokémon of each different Terastal Type to strengthen Pagogo. They fight Spinel's Laquium Core before Liko commands Pagogo to purify it. After spinel starts breaking down, Liko tries convincing him that Laquium was unnecessary, and tries to talk him into the bonds between people and Pokémon, as Liko's Meowscarada and Spinel's Umbreon engage in one final showdown. Liko wins, Spinel's Umbreon abandons him, and the group heads out with Liko bidding farewell to Pagogo. She sets out with the Rising Volt Tacklers in the Brave Olivine, with their name cleared and able to embark on new adventures.
