Charizard (Lizardon in Japanese version) are major characters in the Pokemon franchise. They are a Fire/Flying Type Pokémon-like Dragon reptile that bares a resemblance to dragons. The evolve from Charmeleon at Level 36, after evolving from Charmander at Level 16. They are widely known for their bad tempers.
Appearance
Charizard is a dinosaur-like orange reptile resemble dragon with similarly colored wings and a long tail ending in a large flame. It is the evolved form of Charmeleon, and inherits their
long white claws from this stage. After evolving twice, Charizard has gone from a small orange reptile to a near-dragon beast. The interior of his wings have a greenish-blue hue to him, and his feet now have strong white claws ending his three toes.

Charizard was featured as a Poké Ball Pokémon which breathes fire when summoned.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Charizard makes a cameo in the Super Smash Bros. Melee intro, he appears again as a Pokéball summon and a trophy.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
As for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Charizard appears as a playable character as one of Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon. He also appears as a sticker that give a boost on hand and foot attacks on Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon and Lucario.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
While the Pokémon Trainer along with Squirtle and Ivysaur are cut from Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Charizard is a standalone character on this game, his Final Smash consist using Mega Evolution to become Mega Charizard X.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
In Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Charizard returns as one of the Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon, in World of Light, Charizard, along with Ivysaur and Squirtle, were vaporized by Galeem's beams.
Charizard was represented by two spirits: Charizard, a fighter spirit who can be obtained by clearing the classic mode with the Pokémon Trainer, and Mega Charizard X, an ace-ranked primary attack-type spirit that increases the user's fire attacks, the spirit can be obtained in a spirit battle who is a stamina battle against a giant Charizard, whose special moves have increased power on the Fire type portion of Pokémon Stadium.

- The gender of Ash's Charizard has never been officially confirmed, though it has been hinted to be male. In the English dub of one episode, Brock referred to it as male and its relationship with Charla also hinted to its gender.
- Charizard has used the most moves out of all of Ash’s Pokémon, was the first of his Starter Pokémon to fully evolve, the first to defeat a Legendary Pokémon, and the only one of Ash’s Pokémon that didn’t obey him after evolving.
- Charizard can sometimes be mistaken for a Dragon Type Pokémon because of its appearance and that it can learn Dragon Type moves. Iris makes this mistake herself in the anime series, only for Ash to correct her.
- Coincidentally, when a Charizard mega evolves into Mega Charizard X, it gains the Dragon Type in place of its Flying Type.
