Hilbert is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Hilda) of Pokémon Black and White, and one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Hilda) of it's sequel Black 2 and White 2, and it's manga adapation.
He is voiced by Junko Minagawa in the Japanese version, and by Griffin Burns in the English version.
Appearance
Hilbert is a tall slender boy who has brown hair and has brown eyes. He wears a red hat with a black Poké Ball logo, light blue jacket, black pants, and red sneakers. He also holds a black and blue bag.
Hilbert bears similar appearance traits to his sequel counterpart, Nate.
History
In the games
Hilbert is a boy from Nuvema Town, where he grows up alongside his two friends, Cheren and Bianca. After Hilbert gets his starter Pokémon and Pokédex, he sets off on his journey to become the Champion, meeting a man named N along the way.
N battles Hilbert several times throughout the game. Hilbert encounters and battles Team Plasma, a team posing as dedicated to the liberation of all Pokémon but really is trying to take over the Unova region, along the way as well. After Hilbert defeats the Elite Four, N's Castle suddenly rises from the ground, interrupting his challenge and making him enter the castle instead.
When Hilbert defeats N in their final battle, he battles and defeats Ghetsis, N's father and true mastermind behind Team Plasma, as well, and Ghetsis is arrested afterwards. After Team Plasma is defeated, Hilbert becomes the Champion.
If Hilbert is not chosen by the player, he becomes Hilda's battle partner in the Battle Subway when the player chooses to ride the Multi Train.
In the sequels, Hilbert is still searching for N and he has not returned home yet.
Trivia
- Ash Ketchum's outfit for traveling through the Unova region is based on Hibert's outfit.
- Hilbert is the first male player character since Red to not have his Japanese name end with ki.
- In Pokémon Masters EX, he is voiced by Griffin Burns in the English version.
