Clark Still, nicknamed as "Tough & Cool" and also mistakenly known as Clark Steel in some translations, is a character from the Ikari Warriors, Metal Slug and The King of Fighters video game series.
He was voiced by Yoshinori Shima in the first debut and Tomo Kasaya in the video games in the Japanese version, and by Sean Michaels in the TV shows and Eric Kelso in the video games in the English version.
Biography
Ikari Warriors
Clark is part of the Ikari Warriors mercenary agency who is under the orders of Commander Heidern and Colonel Ralf Jones. He was formerly a spy before he entered their service. Clark is known for being a focused and loyal soldier who specializes in gathering information for their missions. He apparently wears his sunglasses to hide a scar in the middle of his forehead; it was caused by Ralf who was carelessly playing with his knives at the time.
Like the other Ikari Warriors, Clark was ordered to enter each tournament by Heidern. He continues to play a supporting role in Ralf's decisions and often accepts his superior's views. He and Ralf helped Leona overcome her dramatic past at the end of 1997.
The King of Fighters
Sometime before the 1994 tournament, Heidern receives a letter for the KOF tournament. He wants to enter the tournament to get his chance at revenge against Rugal Bernstein, and entrusts entering with his two top operatives: Ralf & Clark. They decide to enter KOF as the Ikari Warriors Team, representing Brazil.
Heidern, after several months of nightmares, is unconvinced that Rugal is truly dead. When Ralf & Clark show him the invitation to the 1995 tournament, they immediately went to enroll, forming again the Ikari Warriors Team.
Heidern informs Ralf and Clark that he will not be joining KOF anymore, as his long-life goal of killing Rugal has been achieved, and he must oversee their mission to watch out for any suspicious activity for the tournament. To fill in the missing team member, Heidern enlists a new operative named Leona, who after a not-so-friendly introduction, forms the new Ikari Warriors Team.
The King of Fighters '97
Leona, for the past year, has been suffering from mysterious headaches and hallucinations. During a failed mission, Ralf asks Heidern to suspend them from active duty. In actuality, this was done for the three to form the Ikari Warriors Team to investigate what's happening with Leona, believing this to be related to Goenitz. When she attempts suicide at the end of the tournament, both Ralf and Clark stop her and assures her that, even if she has no family, she isn't alone anymore.
Personality
In contrast to the rowdy and outgoing Ralf, Clark is taciturn and rarely displays much emotion. However, a melancholic streak is hinted at, and his loyalty towards his comrades is never questioned. He is known to sometimes make fun of Ralf's stubbornness and serious nature.
Skills & Abilities
As a member of Ikari Warriors, Clark is proficient in martial arts and can utilize military weapons, specifically in the Heidern Style assassination techniques. Clark has shown superhuman levels of strength, being capable of lifting and throwing enemies greater than his weight such as the likes of Chang Koehan or Xanadu at a considerable distance. In some incarnations such as Metal Slug Attack, Clark can even lift a fridge or a large boat.
