Nyna is a supporting character in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, and their respective remakes Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem.
The daughter of the twenty-third king of the Holy Kingdom of Archanea, Nyna was the royal family's sole survivor when the nation was invaded during the War of Shadows. After Nyna endured two years of imprisonment, Archanea's occupying leader Camus spirited her away to the protection of Aurelis and its Prince Hardin. It was there that she met Prince Marth of Altea and entrusted him with the Fire Emblem.
After the War of Shadows, Bishop Boah and other Archanean nobles pressured Nyna to marry Hardin for the good of the kingdom. Nyna acquiesced, but when Hardin realized their marriage was entirely one of political convenience, he fell into a deep depression and through the influence of the Darksphere was twisted into a rage-driven tyrant. Realizing Hardin's corruption, Nyna handed the Fire Emblem over to her apprentice Linde and orders her to give it to Marth once again before Hardin delivered her to the Dark Pontifex Gharnef, who intended for her to be a sacrifice to the dragon Medeus.
Nyna is voiced by Michiko Neya, who also voices Lena in the Japanese dub of the Fire Emblem OVA.
Appearance
Nyna is a young woman with long blond hair and blue eyes. She wears a gold tiara with assorted gemstones, and her hair is tied into a ponytail with a blue ribbon. Nyna also wears a long white dress with blue on the front and gold embroidery.
Personality
Nyna is a kind and understanding princess with strong ideals of peace. Her wisdom and charisma successfully inspired others to join her cause, such as Marth and Hardin. However, Nyna's hardships and unrequited love for Camus is fill her with regret and sorrow, though she masks her personal unhappiness with an outward calmness and emotional distance.
Biography
Background
At the War of Shadow's onset, the Dolhr Empire stormed the Holy Kingdom of Archanea and sieged its capital. As they beset its Millenium Court, the 23rd King of Archanea ordered the royal advisor Boah to escort Nyna to safety. Nyna adamantly refused to abandon her father, leading Boah to place her in an enchanted sleep. A retinue of Archanean knights led by Midia assisted the two in their escape, but all were cornered by a retinue of Dolhr soldiers led by Gouber. The group (including an awoken Nyna) successfully resisted capture for a time, but could not withstand the might of Camus. Losing hope, Nyna attempted suicide, but the honorable Camus encouraged her to live for the good of her people.
