Masao Inaba, also known as Mark, is a rebellious troublemaker who is friends with Kei Nanjo and the protagonist in Persona. He makes a bet against Hidehiko Uesugi claiming the "Persona" game is only superstition that causes the main events of Megami Ibunroku Persona.
In Japanese, he is voiced by Katashi Ishizuka in the game, and Yuji Ueda in the CD Drama. In English, he is voiced by Sam Riegel who also voices Donnel from Fire Emblem Series, Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney, and Teddie from Persona 4.
Biography
He is described to be "earnest and excitable" and haakes strong sense of justice that make him a trustworthy friend and reliable voice for the protagonist, though he sometimes lets his emotions show too openly. Because of his somewhat impulsive and impatient nature, he's often at odds with Kei Nanjo.
He feels a sense of kinship with Reiji Kido, perhaps because they share similar traits of being considered delinquents with a protective side for their mothers. Mark also harbors an unrequited crush for Maki Sonomura and often visits her at the hospital.
His family runs a dry cleaning service. Talented in graffiti and hip-hop dance, he led a team called "Tailors" that is also composed of people from families that run clothing businesses. Though he finds his mother overprotective and annoying, even to go as far as calling her names, he deeply cares for her. He becomes an ally as a party member only duxe ng the SEBEC route. He uses an ax as a weapon and a shotgun as a firearm.
Abilities
Mark is of the Chariot Arcana. He has the highest Strength and Luck by default in the beginning of the game, comparable amongst Nanjo and Yukino; which makes his attacks effective for battle and inflicting significant damage to demons with his persona. In contrast, however, he has the lowest Dexterity, which affects the accuracy of inflicting damage with his weapon/firearm. He has four negotiation techniques: dance (踊る), taunt (挑発する), stare (見つめる), and brag (ホラを吹く).
Personality
Masao is a troublemaker that often gets in trouble with the police from his graffiti, but also a friendly student who does not get along with Kei. He seems to have a crush on Maki Sonomura and frequently visits her in the hospital. Being a troublemaker by choice, he takes pride in his graffiti artwork that can be found throughout the city. Thus, pursuing an art career in New York. The reason explains why he doesn't appear in the Persona 2 duology.
