The Monsterbots are a subgroup of Autobots from Generation One of the Transformers franchise. They transform into monstrous creatures.

History

The Monsterbots made their debut in Marvel US' Headmasters miniseries. They were among the Autobots on Cybertron who asked to follow Fortress Maximus when he left the planet to settle peacefully on Nebulos. The attempt failed, largely as a result of Scorponok's Decepticons following them to the planet, where they allied with a corrupt Nebulan faction and began taking over the planet. With Fortress Maximus and the rest of the Autobot Headmasters prisoners of the Decepticons, the Monsterbots were among a group of Autobots sent to defend the Mercury Gardens from Decepticon takeover. The attempt failed and the Monsterbots were the only survivors, returning to report to acting leader Pointblank.

Fortress Maximus' crew made their debut in the main comic in Issue #38, travelling to Earth, with Grotusque among those seen on their ship's bridge as they arrived. The whole team appeared in Issue #41 among the rest of Fortress Maximus' crew, gathering on the moon along with the Earth Autobots to witness a duel between Grimlock and Blaster. The duel was interrupted by an attack by Ratbat's Decepticons. Since the Monsterbots weren't seen again, they may have been among those deactivated during the battle.
