Backstory
Avatar: The Way of Water
Personality
Due to being the oldest of the Sully children, Neteyam was the most mature of his siblings. A part of the reason why Lo'ak resented his older brother was the attention their father was giving him. He was also very determined, stating to his dad he wants to be a warrior just like him. Neteyam would also disapprove of how his father always scolded Lo'ak, even when it was not his fault.
Clan leaders, like Akwey and Ikeyni, spoke warmly about Neteyam, seeing him resemble his mother. Neteyam wanted to become a leader like his father, but Jake's overprotective nature prevented Neteyam from doing so. He took his responsibilities as the eldest son very seriously. When he saw Aonung and his friends start bullying both Kiri and Lo'ak, Neteyam immediately came to his siblings' defense, telling the bullies to back off. He is also very brave, choosing to save his siblings from the RDA when Lo'ak, Tuk, and Tsireya. Even though he wasn't close with Spider as his brother, Neteyam mostly did it out of obligation to Lo'ak. This unfortunately led to Neteyam's death, as he was killed by Lyle Wainfleet during the Battle of the Three Brothers, trying to help Lo'ak save Spider. As he died, Neteyam revealed his true feelings and just wanted to return home.
Appearance
Due to being half-Na'vi, Neteyam inherited some human traits, such as a set of eyebrows. However, unlike his younger brother, Neteyam has four fingers on each hand. He bears a striking resemblance to his mother, if she had been born male.

Family
Lo'ak
Neteyam had a close, albeit estranged relationship with his younger brother. Lo'ak felt inferior compared to his brother because, unlike Neteyam, he had looked more human than Na'vi and the way Jake treated him. Neteyam would immediately come into Lo'aks defense whenever Jake scolded him for no reason.
Neytiri
Both Neteyam and Neytiri are a lot a like. After his death, Neytiri swears vengeance on Miles Quaritch for the death of her eldest son and when he threatens to kill Kiri.
Jake Sully
He is Neteyam's father but Neteyam disagreed with the way Jake treated him.
Trivia
- During the film, Neteyam is fifteen years old.
- He is the only one of the Sully children to never refer to Neytiri as "Mom" but rather "Mother."
