Biography
Early Life
Little is known about Norm's early life prior to his involvement in the Avatar Program. However, it is understood that he was born and raised on Earth, where he received extensive scientific training. Norm was close friends with the late Tom Sully, and he was greatly inspired by the research of his role model, Grace Augustine, whose work on Pandoran Botany he held in high esteem. Norm's exceptional dedication and hard work led to his acceptance into the Avatar Program as an outstanding student.
Before his first assignment on Pandora, he claimed to have studied the Na'vi language for five years, and had logged 520 hours of simulation time in preparation for linking with his avatar.
Avatar
Norm is first seen present during Quaritch's speech and then meets Jake. He also tried to help Jake get used to his Avatar body.
Avatar: The Way of Water
Norm participates in Jake's resistance against the RDA, fighting alongside the Na'vi in his avatar body.
After Kiri fell into a coma due to a seizure, Max and Norm were summoned by Jake to the lands of the Metkayina Clan, where the Sully family relocated. When none of their methods worked, Norm and Max were kicked out by Neytiri and Ronal. Before they left, Norm warned Jake that if Kiri ever connected to the tree of souls again, she could die.
