Together we've made a commitment to the spirit of the frontier freedom fighters. Wherever danger leads us, wherever the people need us, that's where you'll find... the Star Sheriffs!
~ Saber Rider

The Star Sheriffs is the titular main protagonistic group of the cartoon series Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs. It is a subsidiary of the Calvary Command, consisted of the latter's four elite members chosen by the Command's leader Commander Eagle to pilot the giant robot Ramrod in order to combat the Outriders and save the human dimension from their invasion. Their leader is Saber Rider.

Biography

At the start of the series, the Outriders lauch a second invasion, thanks to their leader Nemesis creating the Vapor Trail that allows them to cross over the human dimension. They attack the Settlers, destroy settlements, and kidnap humans to mine minerals from various planets. As a result, The Calvary Command decide to develop a transformable starship known as the Ramrod Equalizer Unit.

As specialists are required to pilot it, Saber Rider alongside Fireball, April Eagle and Colt Willcox are chosen by Commander Eagle, forming the Star Sheriffs. From then on, Saber Rider leads the Star Sheriffs to fight the Outriders to protect the human dimension from them. Another persistent enemy of theirs is the traitorous former cadet Jesse Blue, who betrayed the Calvary Command and joined forces with the Outriders after his attempt to force himself on April was exposed.

Near the end of the series, the team is temporally dissolved when the Ramrod is disassembled as the Outriders promise peace with the Calvary Command. However, knowing that they will go back on the deal, Eagle prepares a second, upgraded Ramrod. When the Outriders attack the Calvary Command's bases with impunity, the second Ramrod heads to their artificial homeworld and banishes them alongside Nemesis and Jesse back to the Vapor Zone, although Eagle implies that they will return someday.

Arsenal

The Star Sheriffs' greatest arsenal is the transformable starship Ramrod, affectionately called the "Big Sheriffs" by its members, developed by Eagle and April to combat the Outriders shortly after they launch their second invasion. Inside the robot contains four cockpits for its pilots to sit in. However, it requires four specialists to be piloted. At the end of the series, the Ramrod is disassembled when the Outriders promise peace, but to prepare in case they go back on the promise, Eagle prepares a second Ramrod. This one is an upgraded version, even managing to foil Jesse's plans, something that the original couldn't.
