Laval is the main protagonist of LEGO Legends Of Chima and a minor character in LEGO Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitzu.
He was voiced by Scott Shantz.

Laval is the headstrong prince of the Lion tribe who still has a lot to learn to about what it means to be a leader. He may want others to see him as a powerful and responsible adult, but he's still a big kid at heart. Duty doesn't always take priority over having a good time. But what's the harm in pulling a little prank every so often? Like a lot of kids, he has an insatiable curiosity and a relentless flair for challenging the rules. This can be a problem since the Lions are all about following and challenging the rules. Can Laval figure this out and become the great warrior and leader his tribe expects of him?
After the Battle of the Chi

The prince of the Lion Tribe, Laval was once very headstrong and more interested in having a good time than anything else. But the battles over CHI have helped him to grow up a little bit. While he still loves nothing more than a new adventure or a chance to have fun, he also understands more about the duties and responsibilities of a prince. He showed that by his willingness to put the past aside and ally with Cragger against a common threat. As the leader of a new, united team of heroes, the fate of Chima rests on his shoulders.
Personality
Laval is expected to be a mature lion warrior by his father, but he is shown to act like a kid, forgetting his duties.
Being brave, loyal, fun-loving and heroic, Laval is the young prince of the proud Lion Tribe. He is eager to prove his worth as a leader, but anxious about the responsibility. Mischievous Laval would rather be playing jokes on his friends and seeking adventure at every turn. Even though he has caused much trouble in the land of Chima, he always seeks to make things right.
Laval loves riding his Speedor more than any other vehicle. He is king of the Market Day Speedor track!
As prince of the Lions, Laval must keep peace among the tribes and help protect Chima's sacred CHI. Thankfully he has a great role model in his father Lagravis.
Biography
Background
Laval is the son of Lagravis and a prince of the Lion Tribe (and the nephew of Lavertus though Laval didn't meet him until later in his life). He is friends with other tribe members high up in the class system including Eris, Gorzan, Worriz, Skinnet, Rogon, but above all, it was Cragger who was his best friend.
When Cragger discovered the effects of Chi, a rift formed in his and Laval's relationship, to the point where the Lion and Crocodile tribes came to battle. In the climax, the Earth split apart and Cragger's parents, Crominus and Crunket fell beneath. Though they survived, they were presumed dead.
As the new king of the Crocodiles, Cragger was depressed about his parent's death, but did not blame the lions. However, he was hypnotized by his sister Crooler into declaring a full-out war against the Lions. However, Laval and the other lions were unaware of the true reasons behind Cragger's actions, believing that he performed them intentionally.
At Laval's coming of age ceremony where he was to place CHI in his chest for the first time, the Lion CHI Temple was attacked by the Crocodiles and their allies, the Wolves and the Ravens.
Laval chased after their new leader on a Speedor and dueled him, but he stopped after suddenly realizing that he had been battling Cragger. After many battles won for Laval, he spares him, however Cragger takes advantage of this, and he throws Laval into a nearby lake. Laval began to drown, but he was rescued by a Lion Legend Beast, one of the eight animals of great power who never chose to drink CHI and left Chima long ago.
Laval rode the beast back into the battlefield, which the Eagles and Gorillas had now joined, on the side of the Lions. This changed nothing however, as the lions were losing horribly, and when Cragger immediately comes to his senses, Crooler hypnotizes him again. The Beast roared and the fighting stopped as all present bowed down to it, except for Cragger. He plugged an orb of CHI into his chest and charged at the beast, only to be swatted away. Using the orb of CHI that Cragger dropped, Laval was able to defeat the Crocodile King and told Cragger to tell his troops to retreat. Despite all that has happened, Laval still felt bad for Cragger.
Legends of Chima
Season 1
In "The Legend of Chima", he goes to the CHI temple to receive his first test of Chi. However, just as he is about to put him in his harness, the Crocodile forces an attack. A mysterious crocodrile steals Lavals Chi, which was hit and escapes during the attack, along with the chi from the pool. Laval pursues Cragger in his Speedor, where he leads into a showdown. Laval manages to defeat Cragger, but before he attacks the punch, he recognizes Cragger.
In "The Great Story", Laval and Lagravis walking down along the temple steps. Lagravis then proceeds to tell the Great Story to Laval, who complains that it is boring. Lagravis ignores him and continues the story.
Laval ends up being the winner, even after Worriz uses unauthorized weapons against him. As Laval unseats Worriz, Worriz plunges into a thorn bush and half his fur is shaved off, humiliating him terribly. Just as Laval is about to be awarded with the golden CHI, Cragger shows up, demanding that he joust Laval. Laval refuses, as the rules state that if anyone is late, they will be disqualified.
In "The Warrior Within'", When Lagravis gave some of Chi of the tribes, Laval is shocked when his Lagravis gives Cragger some of the CHI orbs even though the crocodiles had previously attacked them. His father says that every tribe in Chima gets CHI even if the tribes aren't friendly toward them, saying this is an important rule.
Laval sees the legend beast appear briefly and wonders if it did not help him because he took the CHI away from the crocodiles or because he threw it away. Everyone is shocked when an earthquake shakes the ground and Eris is concerned. as there hasn't been one like this for many years. Later as the two of them make their way home they spot their gorilla friend Gorzan plant a flower that he had been protecting for the whole day. Unknown to Laval and Eris, he had got into a fight with the wolves and the ravens, causing them to be late.

In the Ninjago season five finale episode, "Curseworld: Part 2", Laval and his friends were enjoying a relaxing day before being interrupted by Morro and Lloyd, who fell into the area from a portal. He then glanced at Laval and the others before Morro opened another portal, with both him and Lloyd falling in.
LEGO Dimensions
Laval is one of the Fun Pack characters in LEGO Dimensions. He appears in the 71222 Fun Pack.

Trivia
- His mother is never mentioned in the series.
- While we see Laval's father, Lagravis, his mother is not mentioned in the series at all.
- Queen Crunket and Maula are the only known maternal characters.
- Laval's age is unknown, as the age of becoming is never specified, though it is possible he could be about ten years old.
- Laval is ironically the cause of two major events in Chima. The first occurred when he threw the Crocodile Tribe's CHI into the Gorge of Eternal Depth, which caused the creation of the Crawlers. The second occurred later when he gave Scorm a CHI orb, which resulted in Scorm throwing CHI down a crevasse inhabited by the Ice Hunters, who the CHI caused to wake up.
- Technically, it was Cragger who caused the first incident by giving Laval the CHI of the Crocodile Tribe, so he could frame Laval for taking their CHI, but this can be disputed.
- Secondly, he would have never given Scorm the CHI, had he known it would awaken the Ice Tribes. Technically, Scorm should have been to blame for this incident.
- His name is pronounced, "Luh-val". His name has French roots. However, he shares his name with a city in Quebec, pronounced, "Le-vul".
- Laval makes a brief cameo in Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu when Lloyd Garmadon and Morro emerge from a portal and into Chima. Laval asks Lloyd and Morro them where did they come from before Morro leaves with Lloyd with the Realm Crystal.
- A version of Laval is available for the Lego Dimensions game. This version features similar printing to his Fire CHI attire, with few alterations, and has a piece of Fire CHI in his harness. He comes in a Fun Pack along with a lion car.
- Laval has his own theme called "Laval the Lion" in the Legends of Chima Soundtrack.
- Laval's character design resembles Lion-O, from the Thundercats franchise.
- Laval has a romantic interest in Li'ella in Season 3. In The Heart of Cavora, he becomes happy when Li'ella called him her boyfriend.
- Laval receives a new "mask" piece for the Summer 2014 Sets.
- During season 1 of the TV series, Laval and Eris are often seen as friends, making some fans believe that they are a couple.
- The September-October issue of LEGO Club Magazine included a Laval sticker.
- He is the only lion to have a red mane.
- In the show, he has a sword that on top has silver and on the handle gold, yet this sword is not included in any set.
